God will provide through Miracles
Our study continues on the major ways through which God provides for us. We have covered three of them and have three more to explore.
To recap:
1. God has provided everything through creation (the Primary supply line) and nature – sufficient food, water and air. Resources available from the very beginning, reproduced to sustain generations and more through ‘the seed and multiplication’ principle. This covers plants, animals, birds and mankind alike.

2. Through the work of our hands – our jobs, business, ministry etc. So God’s hands, our hands and thirdly, through others’ hands.
3. Others’ hands: Through other’s hands, we need to learn the power of receiving. Not that we should be dependent on them but on occasion we need to receive from others.

4. God provides through miracles and supernatural interventions. This is called the supernatural supply. While the first supply (the primary supply) is natural, this supply is supernatural and only God can make it happen. Heaven interrupts nature to meet our need, breaking all natural laws. Hence it’s supernatural.

God is not limited by natural resources or human systems. When earthly channels of supply dry up, He opens heavenly channels. The supernatural is God’s emergency supply line that can be touched by faith.
- God’s supply is activated by faith, obedience and expectation.
We need to understand that God is never out of options. When one door closes on a child of God, another has already been prepared or opened by God. So we are not to worry over what comes next.
- God opens another door even before the present door shuts.
God uses different methods to perform the supernatural. He can use fish, messengers, birds, anything.
Numbers 11.23 says, “Is the Lord’s arm too short? Now you will see whether what I say will come true for you or not.”
Even if there is a shortage on earth or in one’s purse or wallet or account or fridge or storehouse, there is no shortage in heaven! Nothing needs preservation. Everything is fresh in heaven. There is a shortage of human faith though. But our lack or scarcity never limits his supply.
Let’s consider the example of Elijah and the widow he helped or even the instance, where Elijah was fed through the ravens (unlikely suppliers). 1Kings 17.6 says, “The ravens brought him bread and meat in the morning and bread and meat in the evening” – twice daily! Ravens are unclean, scavenging birds that eat rubbish. But it is through these very ravens, that God commanded the food supply to Elijah during the famine. These birds are natural snatchers yet they were used for supply on time. This is called supernatural supply! When you are where God told you to be, supply will find you. Elijah was at the brook just as God had commanded him and the supply happened.
- Through obedience when we position ourselves supply will happen; even in the desert!
In 2Kings 4.6, oil kept flowing. The creditors were coming to take away the widow’s children, when Elisha spoke to the prophet’s widow and asked her to collect vessels from her neighbours and close all the doors to her house. She was to pour whatever oil she had into those vessels. The oil kept flowing. That was supernatural. As long as there was capacity, there was supply. Till the last available vessel was filled, there was oil.
- God’s provision grows in proportion to our obedience and preparation.
Had there been more vessels, more would have been the oil supply. Unexplainable and nothing short of a miracle! A miracle becomes a miracle when there is no explanation. If it has a scientific explanation, then it is not a miracle. Testimonies of healing through prayer, disappearance of growths, tumours, cancers etc. How do these happen? These are supernatural miracles that have no medical explanation. Miracles violate natural laws!
Empty vessels invite full miracles
We always speak of the Manna in the wilderness. It was a daily miracle. Exodus 16.14 says,
“When the dew was gone, thin flakes like frost on the ground appeared on the desert floor.” It was not a one-time event but happened daily for 40 years. Food came from heaven daily and the Israelites never went hungry. Neither their shoes nor their clothes wore out. They used them the entire 40 years they were in the desert. The children were able to wear the same shoes and clothes 40 years later even though they had grown into adults. The shoes and clothes grew to the size of the individual wearing them.
- God’s provision may not come as luxury but it will always be enough. There was always sufficient Manna in the wilderness.

In Jesus’ time, Jesus and Peter had to pay temple tax. In Mt. 17.27, Jesus says, “…. go to the lake and throw out your line. Take the first fish you catch; open its mouth and you will find a four-drachma coinTake it and give it to them for my tax and yours.” It was definitely a supernatural supply. Believe that God can give you a supernatural supply. God can bring provision from unexpected places at the exact moment of need.

Next, God drew water out from the rock for the Israelites. Normally, it is highly unlikely for water to come out of a rock because the composition of rock is rock and not water. For water to gush out of a rock when struck by a stick or when verbally commanded – it’s definitely a supernatural miracle. Exodus 17.6 says, “Strike the rock, and water will come out of it for people to drink.” So in the desert, God turned a solid rock into a flowing fountain. God can draw water from the hardest place!

The next supernatural provision is seen in Gen 22.13. which says, “Abraham looked up and there in a thicket he saw a ram caught by its horns.” It was the sacrificial animal to be offered instead of Isaac. When Abraham in obedience was willing to sacrifice his one and only son, God miraculously provided the sacrificial animal. So provision is waiting at the place of obedience. His faith and obedience pleased God and he was justified through it.
Here faith was being tested. At the same time, God had already prepared the sacrificial ram. In Mt. 14.19, Jesus Christ multiplied the 5 loaves of bread and 2 fish. While the multitudes watched, in their absolute nothingness, Jesus supplied the food to eat with 12 full baskets of leftover food.
- Thanksgiving turns insufficiency into abundance.
Jesus raised the 5 loaves and 2 fish in thanksgiving to God, and immediately it started to multiply.
In Canaan, Jesus transformed water into wine. Yet another example of the supernatural. Wine of good quality is available only after years of maturing. But God supplied that. Jesus saved a family from shame and supplied excellence instead of embarrassment, making it a topic of conversation even to this day.
Miracles often begin with small obedient steps. Mary was the one to say that there was no wine. They filled the 6 stone jars as instructed and immediately the miracle happened.

A believer once recounted having lost his job and didn’t have money to pay the house rent. He knelt in prayer seeking a miracle. His friend in another town unexpectedly called and said that while he prayed, Jesus told him to send his friend Rs. 20,000/- He called for his google pay account and within moments, the amount was credited to his account. The unemployed believer was able to pay his rent. He had not asked his friend but God’s hand worked supernaturally to bring about a miracle.

Believe that God can do it for you!
