FAITHFUL STEWARDSHIP
FAITHFUL STEWARDSHIP
FAITHFUL STEWARDSHIP
FOCUS WORD: FAITHFUL STEWARDSHIP
FOCUS VERSE: 1 Corinthians 4: 2 - Now it is required that those who have been given a trust must prove faithful.
DECLARATION: I steward God’s resources wisely; faithfulness positions me for greater expansion.
Everything you possess is a trust, not ownership: Whatever you believe you own has actually been entrusted to you by God - it is a trust. In the first epistle to Timothy, Paul writes - we came into this world with nothing and we leave with nothing. We have to prove our faithfulness in whatever we have been given. A steward manages what belongs to another; he is not the owner, everything belongs to God.There is a change in perception when we realise that we are not owners, but only caretakers.
Psalm 24: 1 - The earth is the Lord’s and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it.
James 1: 17 - Every good and perfect gift is from above.
Deuteronomy 8: 18 - But remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you the ability to produce wealth and so confirms His covenant, which He swore to your ancestors, as it is today
Time, talent, skill sets, circle of connections, opportunities, resources are all entrusted to us by God. If you do not value something, you will soon forfeit it.
Faithfulness matters more than size: It is more important to be faithful in the little matters entrusted to you than in doing much without bearing fruit.
Matthew 25: 21 - Well done, good and faithful servant.
Proverbs 28: 20 - A faithful person will be richly blessed, but one eager to get rich will not go unpunished.
Small assignments are often a preface to larger ones. They are a preparation arena for greater things in the future.
Stewardship requires wisdom and order: A person who sets out to manage something requires wisdom to handle the matter and complete it in an orderly fashion. A faithful steward would never be inactive or passive. Planning, discipline, wise management are part and parcel of being a good steward.
Proverbs 21: 5 - The plans of the diligent lead to profit as surely as haste leads to poverty.
Ephesians 5: 15 and 16 - Make good use of every opportunity.
Colossians 3: 23 - Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters.
Good intentions without proper management create only waste. Consider a huge water tank with the capacity to provide running water to a whole locality. When pipes are connected to it, all the water can be utilised for the region. But if it is stored up for a long period without outflow, the water stagnates and bacteria grow in the tank cancelling the use of the water. Be well-organised with the resources God has given you.
Faithful stewardship leads to greater trust: God often gives greater responsibility where He finds faithfulness.
Matthew 25: 29 - Whoever has more will be given more.
Genesis 39: 4 - Joseph found favour because he managed well.
1 Peter 4: 10 - As each one has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace.
Heaven rewards trustworthiness. Reliability opens doors that even talent may not. When God sees faithfulness, He will entrust more. His reward will be greater assignments.
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
