PRAYER FOR TERRITORY
FOCUS WORD: PRAYER FOR TERRITORY
FOCUS VERSE: 1 Chronicles 4: 10 - Oh that You would bless me and enlarge my territory! Let Your hand be with me, and keep me from harm so that I will be free from pain!
DECLARATION: Like Jabez, I pray for enlargement today; God’s hand rests on my life for expansion and protection.
It is right to desire Godly increase: Jabez prayed for increase and enlargement. His mother gave birth to him in the midst of pain and hence named him Jabez, meaning ‘pain’. Jabez wanted a change in his life and future and cried out to the Lord. He did not pray from greed, but from dependence on God. God is not offended by prayers for growth when the motive is Kingdom purpose.
Isaiah 54: 2 - Enlarge the place of your tents.
Psalm 115: 11 - May the Lord cause you to flourish.
Ephesians 3: 20 - Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us,.....
Increase in wealth may replace surrender and dependence on God and this would turn out to be dangerous. Increase in territory should always serve the purposes of God.
Enlarged territory requires enlarged capacity: Sometimes God delays expansion till the character lis stabilised and transformed. Greater territory means greater responsibility, greater pressure, greater stewardship, greater influence
Colossians 1: 10 - So as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to Him; bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God.
God’s hand is more important than greater territory: Jabez did not pray for increased territory alone, but that God’s hand would be with him. Without God’s hand, increase could turn out to be a burden.
Exodus 33: 15 - And he said to Him, “If Your presence will not go with me, do not bring us up from here.”
Psalm 127: 1 - Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labour in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the watchman stays awake in vain.
When God’s presence goes with us, we are able to do great things, accomplish our purposes and conquer territories. We are able to take the right steps towards our goal.
Enlarged territory must remain free from evil: Jabez prayed that he may be kept fro evil. Enlarged territory brings new challenges. Expansion requires vigilance.
Matthew 6: 133 - Deliver us from evil.
Ephesians 6: 11 - Put on the full armour of God.
Protection needs to increase with growth. Capacity needs to be increased and an increased capacity to bless others is to be prayed for. For this always remain under the hand of God.
