FIRM FOUNDATION
FIRM FOUNDATION
FIRM FOUNDATION
FOCUS WORD: FIRM FOUNDATION
FOCUS VERSE: 1 Corinthians 3: 11 - For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ.
DECLARATION: Jesus is my sure foundation; my life and ministry stand strong on His word.
Foundations determine the strength of the future: A building is only as strong as what lies beneath it. Paul declares that Jesus Christ is the only true foundation that can carry every weight.
Isaiah 28: 16 - “See I lay a stone in Zion, a tested stone, a precious cornerstone for a sure foundation;............
Matthew 7: 24 and 25 -
Psalm 18: 2 - The Lord is my Rock and my Fortress.
Generally, many people are prone to decorate the facade of a building and not pay much attention to the foundation. Without a firm foundation, the building may lean and be uninhabitable. What if this were to happen to the life of a person; without a strong spiritual foundation, his life may prove unfruitful. Depth determines durability - the more you want to rise up, the deeper should be the foundation that is laid.
Wrong foundations eventually reveal weaknesses: Some foundations look good for a season, but unstable foundations begin to reveal cracks after a while. Different seasons bring different challenges. This is the time the depth and strength of the foundation is revealed. God is the designer, architect and builder.
Psalm 127: 1 - Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labour in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the guards stand watch in vain.
Ecclesiastes 10: 8 - …….Whoever breaks through a wall may be bitten by a snake.
This means that when man violates the boundaries or walls that God has established around him, he is liable to come to harm. Shortcuts may bring immediate success but these temporary successes cannot replace eternal grounding. We need to lay a firm foundation that will last for the eternal. Pressure reveals the strength of a structure - whether it will stand firm or crumble.
Christ must be more than a part of life: Paul says that Christ is not merely to be a decorative piece, but your FIRM FOUNDATION in your life, in your ministry and everything that concerns you.
Colossians 1: 17 - He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together.
Acts 4: 12 - Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.
John 14: 6 - Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
Hebrews 1: 3 - The Son ………………sustaining all things by His powerful word.
Christianity is not adding Jesus to an already self-built life, but demolishing all the unwanted things and building everything upon Christ - the tested stone. Building a new life upon the foundation of Christ is the actual and true Christian life.
A firm foundation produces confidence amidst storms: We may not be able to avoid storms in life but a firm foundation decides survival.
2 Timothy 2: 19 - God’s solid foundation stands firm……..
Nahum 1: 7 - The Lord is good, a refuge in times of trouble. He cares for those who trust in Him.
If you decide to trust in the Lord and stand firmly grounded on His word, you will come out victorious through every storm.
