MG 1936 – The Key to Lasting Blessings (Faithfulness)
Focus word: Faithfulness
Focus verse: 1Thes 5.24: ‘The One who calls is faithful, and He will do it.’
Declaration: I walk in faithfulness today; as I remain steadfast, God establishes His promises in me.
Points to ponder:
1. God’s faithfulness is the foundation of our confidence.
It points believers not to their strength but to God’s character – His faithfulness! Our security rests not in our performance but on our faithful God.
Lamentations 3. 22 – 23 written by Jeremiah. He changes seasons and situations. We have seasons of grief followed by joy. God will turn our mourning into dancing. 2Cor 12 – the ending verses – ‘Great is your faithfulness.’ Jesus and David too went through seasons of grief and joy.
Deut 7.9 – ‘He is the faithful God, keeping His covenant.
Heb 10.23 – ‘He who promised is faithful.’
Promises are only as reliable as the person who makes them. That’s why we say ‘yes’ and ‘amen’ to the promises we have in Lord Jesus Christ. God never fails in His word. God’s promises remain as constant as the mountains through changing seasons and weather conditions.
2. God finishes what He starts
When God initiates purpose, He also supplies grace to finish it.
Phil 1.6 – ‘He will carry it on to completion.’
Isai 46.11 – ‘What I have planned, that I will do.’
Rom 11.29 – ‘God’s gifts and calling are irrevocable.’
Delay does not mean abandonment. eg: Saul bypassed God and the anointed man of God – Samuel, and worked in his own capacity which earned him God’s displeasure. Abraham and Sarah were promised Isaac but they made their own Hagar project disrupting God’s plans bringing a lot of trouble into the world. God sees the end of a project right at the very beginning itself. God always envisions a finished project or product. Trust His process!
3. Faithfulness must also be reflected in us.
God is faithful and His people are called to live faithfully.
Lk 12. 42 – talks about the faithful and wise manager.
Pro 20.6 – talks about a faithful person – who can find?
Rev 2.10 – be faithful even to the point of death, (usually spoken during water Baptism) in order to receive the crown of life.
Faithfulness is consistency without applause. It is obedience without shortcuts, steadiness during delay. A clock’s needles can go only at the set pace/speed. I need to work where God has planted me at the pace He has planned for me.
4. Faithfulness sustains us through uncertain seasons.
There are seasons when emotions fluctuate and circumstances shift. Our God still remains dependable.
2Tim 2.13 – ‘Even if we are faithless, He is faithful.’
Psa 36.5 – ‘Your faithfulness reaches to the skies.’
Isa 25.1 – Perfect faithfulness.
Faithfulness anchors the soul during uncertainty.
Practical tip to remain steadfast in faithfulness - Hold firmly to God’s promises; for He doesn’t change. He is faithful even when there are delays in answers to our prayers; when we are weak or don’t have clarity or are confused.
