The Applied Word of God: Part 26
God's Word has a purpose. He sustains everything with his Word. When the Word is released, it contains both seed for the sower and fruit for reaping.
We receive nourishment from the Word and also seed for others too.
John 12:24 ‘Very truly I tell you, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds.’
In the verse above Christ is speaking about himself. About his death for us on the cross.
He was the essence of heaven, divinity and perfect human life.
John 1:1 ‘In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning.’
Mark 4:30-32 ‘Again he said, “What shall we say the kingdom of God is like, or what parable shall we use to describe it? It is like a mustard seed, which is the smallest of all seeds on earth. Yet when planted, it grows and becomes the largest of all garden plants, with such big branches that the birds can perch in its shade.”
There is a seed time. In all of our lives we have a time of sowing. Even Jesus had this seed time while on Earth. It is an eternal principle put in place by God.
In the book of Matthew we find two parables of sowing where the seed represents
There is always a seedtime and harvest. It is said that till the age of 30, Jesus used to go to the synagogue everyday and learn the scriptures. Jesus fed himself with the Word of God for 30 years.
Mark 4:26-29 ‘He also said, “This is what the kingdom of God is like. A man scatters seed on the ground. Night and day, whether he sleeps or gets up, the seed sprouts and grows, though he does not know how. All by itself the soil produces grain—first the stalk, then the head, then the full kernel in the head. As soon as the grain is ripe, he puts the sickle to it, because the harvest has come.”’
A farmer does not know the process of sprouting or how the seed grows. It is a mystery!
There are a few principles that we can understand from the verse:
There is a part that we have to play and then let it into God’s hand for him to work on it.
Jesus teaches that the seed grows slowly and steadily amidst all adversity and it reaches the glorious culmination point at the second coming of Jesus. It is a process!

- We, the sons and daughters of the kingdom
- God’s Word

There are a few principles that we can understand from the verse:
- We should wilfully sow seed.
- The seed sown sprouts and grows without the knowledge of the sower. Growth and multiplication comes from God.
- We don't know how this miracle happens.
- God has put great potential in the seed. It is beyond our understanding.
- All by itself the soil produced grain. It is a process and it will take time.
- As soon as the grain is ripe, he puts the sickle in it.
