Divine Intervention
The focus word for today is ‘Divine Intervention.’
Believe that God’s divine intervention is happening today in your life.
Ex. 14.14 says, “The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.”
God will fight for us; we need not wage war. This is Divine Intervention.
Declaration: God intervenes on my behalf today: His mighty hand turns my battle into blessing. God’s powerful hand will change my wars into blessing. Vengeance is mine, says God; don’t seek revenge.
Divine Intervention
1. Divine intervention comes when human strength ends.
Man’s extremity is God’s opportunity. God begins His work when man gives up in defeat. For example, Peter worked the entire night with no result. Then the Lord intervened. We need to reach a point where we depend totally on God; only then will He intervene.
According to Ps. 31.19, Divine intervention comes when human strength ends. God steps in when our resources fail and our path seems blocked.
God starts when all is finished.
When Israel stood before the Red Sea with the enemy right behind them. They were backed up on all sides. God revealed His power. Divine intervention is God entering human impossibility.
Ex. Chapters 13 and 14 - The Lord will fight for you. The battle belongs to the Lord.
Ps. 46.1 – God is our refuge and strength.
Declare it! God is my refuge and strength.
2Chron. 20.15 – The battle is not yours but God’s. This is Jehoshaphat’s story. The king who sang on his way to war. Instead of carrying weapons, they carried musical instruments.
It has always been God’s policy – Judah will move first. Judah means praise. Whenever they moved from one location to another, the first to move would be those under the lion face flag/banner, namely Judah. In other words, praise would go first. When that happened, those following behind would surely have victory. That’s why it’s said, battle is not yours, it belongs to God. Jehoshaphat sang praises to God, and God who inhabits the praises, came down and stepped into the situation.
An illustration would be of a bridge that collapses and rescue boats are unable to rescue the people. Helicopters with divers come and they rescue those in the water. Similarly, when we come to the end of all our efforts, then there will be a divine intervention from heaven, in every area of one’s life be it in own life, family, difficult situations, legal cases, financial situations too. Believe and allow God to intervene, and He will!
2. God intervenes for those who trust and wait.
Those who believe and wait for God, He steps into their situation.
Stillness is not passivity but faith. Be still and know that I’m God. Be calm and quiet. It does not mean inactivity or despair; rather stillness is faith. An example for illustrative purposes would be a flight that was going to crash. One passenger was sleeping while all others were crying in despair. When awakened, he responded even Jesus slept in the midst of the storm. So I sleep.
It has happened to me too. I was travelling once when I fell asleep exhausted. After a time, I woke up and found out that we were still at the same airport. Owing to a technical failure midair, and havening circled the same place for about 45mins, the aircraft landed at the same airport. We were later transferred to another aircraft. But I had slept through all of the chaotic situation.
Jesus had slept in the midst of the storm meaning God is in control. The Father who sent me will take care of me, it is under His command. The Lord later woke up and calmed the storm. God works for those who wait upon Him and depend on Him. Waiting on God opens the door for His action. I am waiting for Him to intervene!
“I wait upon the Lord; He has heard my cry.” Those who rely on Him will see His salvation.
Ps. 37.7 says, “Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for Him; do not fret when people succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes.”
Isaiah 30.15 “……. in quietness and trust is your strength...”
Practice quiet time in His presence and let Him work. Depend on Him. Let Him speak. Let Him intervene. Give Him the space.
Lamentations 3.26 says, “It is good to wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord.”
For illustrative purposes…. in a surgery, local or general anaesthesia is given. A patient has to just lie under anaesthesia. Only then can the operation happen.
Waiting is not weakness. It is confidence in God’s hand.
The patient undergoing surgery has confidence in the surgeon. Similarly, if we believe that God can do it, then we will choose to be silent; otherwise we’ll simply create ruckus.
3. Divine intervention changes the course of battles
When God intervenes, enemies are confused and situations are reversed. They are scattered. What looked like defeat turns into a testimony… my God has done mighty things for me and at times, it’s so electrifying when they testify on stage. Get ready to testify.
Esther 6.1 – 11… God reversed Haman’s plan to kill Mordecai who was a simple God fearing man who took care of an orphan. Haman had a guillotine prepared to kill Mordecai. But God intervened, the situation turned and Haman was hung instead. The king honoured Mordecai and gave him a position.
I prophesy that in your office, community, family; wherever you are cornered, targeted… and the devil uses people to scheme much destruction against you. However, when Godly intervention happens, the situation will turn. God will raise you and turn your situation into a blessing. Believe! It will happen.
Daniel 6.22 …. God shut the lion’s mouth…
There are many stories about Daniel but the most prominent is when he is put in a lion’s pit amongst starving lions. God’s chosen and anointed one – Daniel was thrown into that pit. But God closed mouths of the lions. The king came and enquired about Daniel; if His God had actually rescued him. He was brought out of the pit. Similarly, God can change your situations. This is the year of the Supernatural! Time of big miracles.
Acts 12.6-11 talks about Peter being released from prison. The angel of God came and released him from prison. Peter returned to the fellowship. Just as a sail ship is turned around by a strong gust of wind to avoid a collision, so too a divine intervention will take you away from disastrous collisions.
4. Divine intervention produces worship and testimony
Divine intervention leads to immense worship and powerful testimonies. God’s mighty acts result in praise and remembrance. Intervention leads to songs of victory and stories of faith for generations to come.
In the early days, we would release many worship publications in which one section would be songs of victory.
This was a result of divine intervention and stories of faith for generations.
Ex. 15.1 – The song of Moses. In chapter 14, the Israelites cross the Red Sea and in chapter 15, they sing songs of victory. Worship is revealed.
Ps 66.5 – Come and see what God has done.
Lk1.49 …. the Mighty One has done great things for me, holy is His name.
A traveler is surrounded by thieves and one comes to rescues him. He will never forget his rescuer for the rest of his life. We forget momentary acquaintances, but we won’t forget a rescuer. Similarly, when God intervenes at the opportune time, from our thankfulness, our gratitude, rises our praise and worship, testimonies too! Are you ready to testify to the Lord? If so, you will see God’s intervention and experience.
Declare – I will experience God’s intervention. The Almighty will do mighty things for me!
Believe that God’s divine intervention is happening today in your life.
