Key Elements Of True Worship
This week we have been looking into the prerequisites of worship. So far we have looked at 6 points.
We cannot come into the presence of God without offering Him a gift of thanksgiving.
The first offering we will be looking into is:
'Take words with you and return to the Lord . Say to him: “Forgive all our sins and receive us graciously, that we may offer the fruit of our lips. '
Confessions come before offering sacrifices
If we look at history, we see that wherever people have confessed their sins, there has been an outbreak of revival.
If you want to confess your sins, read:
1 John 1:7-10
'But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin. If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word is not in us.'
Nehemiah 9:2
'Those of Israelite descent had separated themselves from all foreigners. They stood in their places and confessed their sins and the sins of their ancestors. '
Leviticus 16:21-22
'He is to lay both hands on the head of the live goat and confess over it all the wickedness and rebellion of the Israelites—all their sins—and put them on the goat’s head. He shall send the goat away into the wilderness in the care of someone appointed for the task. The goat will carry on itself all their sins to a remote place; and the man shall release it in the wilderness. '
Here, the two goats together symbolize the complete atoning work of Christ.
The 1st Goat represents - Sacrificial death of Jesus.
The 2nd Goat (Scape Goat) represents the resurrection of Christ.
One thing we must keep in mind is that regularly confessing our sins is powerful and essential before entering into worship.
True worship begins with a heart cleansed through confession. When we humbly acknowledge our sins, God’s grace renews us, preparing us for a deeper encounter with Him. History shows that revival follows genuine repentance. As we worship, may we come before Him with pure hearts, knowing that through Christ, we are forgiven and restored.
Blessings as you seek Him!
