VISION
FOCUS WORD: VISION
FOCUS VERSE: Habakkuk 2: 2 - Then the Lord replied: “Write the vision; make it plain on tablets, so he may run who reads it.”
DECLARATION: God clarifies my vision today; I build with clarity, purpose and focus.
Our God is God of ‘today’ - blessing is today, healing is today. Those poor in the spirit are blessed. You are blessed today.
Vision begins with revelation: it is when something is revealed in our hearts that we have a vision. The prophet Habakkuk never went in search of a vision, but acquired it spiritually. No one can discover a vision; it has to be revealed. Vision is not ambition, it is revelation. True vision is born through prayer. It is received when we position ourselves to hear from God.
Proverbs 20: 18 - Where there is no revelation, people perish
Jeremiah 33: 3 - Call to Me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things.
Ephesians 1: 17 - That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of Him,
18 - Having the eyes of your heart enlightened, that you may know what is the hope to which He has called you, what are the riches of His glorious inheritance in the saints,..........
Without revelation, life becomes reactive not proactive. When an incident occurs in life, we tend to react to the situation, we do not act upon the situation. Example: A lighthouse guides ships to shore. Similarly, a godly vision is required to lead and guide believers in every stage of their lives. Without a lighthouse, a ship may wander off course and get lost. This too may happen in our lives - without a clear vision we may wander off course and land in trouble. There would seem to be no aim or goal in life.
Vision must be scripted correctly: Each one of us should have a personal vision in life and it should be noted down accurately. Unwritten vision becomes forgotten inspiration. A written vision has a structured direction. Clarity produces momentum; without clarity there is clutter.
Nehemiah 2: 17 - Then I said to them, “You see the trouble we are in, how Jerusalem lies in ruins with its gates burned. Come, let us build the wall of Jerusalem, that we may no longer suffer derision.”
18 - And I told them of the hand of my God that had been upon me for good, and also of the words that the king had spoken to me. And they said, “Let us rise up and build.” so they strengthened their hands for the good work.
For almost a century the walls of Jerusalem lay in a broken state. When the prophet Nehemiah heard of it, he was in a distressed state and decided to do something about it.
Luke: 14: 28 - For which of you, desiring to build a tower, does not first sit down and count the cost, whether he has enough to complete it?
Proverbs 16: 9 - The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps.
Consider the blueprint of a house - it may look like a lot of lines, but it guides the entire construction. Vision on paper becomes a blueprint for progress. Be encouraged to write down all the visions and directions that God reveals to you. Clarity removes confusion; you get a right perspective of what God intends with your life.
Vision requires patience and faith: habakkuk 2: 3 - For still the vision awaits its appointed time; it hastens to the end - it will not lie. If it seems slow, wait for it; it will surely come; it will not delay.
Vision is always clear but the timing may be progressive. Delay does not mean denial but development.
Hebrews 10: 36 - For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God you may receive what is promised.
Genesis 12: 1 - Now the Lord said to Abram, “Go from your country and your kindred and your father’s house to the land that I will show you.”
Galatians 6: 9 - Do not grow weary when doing good.
Vision tests your endurance before it rewards your obedience. A seed carries a tree within it, but its growth is hidden before it is visible. Vision matures underground before it manifests above ground. Vision is similar to this - it takes time to grow and manifest. So stay faithful in small steps. God honours persistent builders.
Vision creates focus and discipline: When you have a clear grasp of your vision, distractions lose their power. You will strain forward to achieve your goal without straying aside.
Nehemiah 6: 3 - “I am carrying on a great project and cannot come down.”
Philippians 3: 13 - Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead,
14 - I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
1 Cor. 9: 26 - I do not run like someone running aimlessly.
Vision protects from wandering. Many youngsters nowadays wander aimlessly not concentrating on studies, jobs or their spiritual life - this is due to the lack of a clear vision.
The Acts of the Apostles repeats what the prophet Joel spoke many centuries before - “that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh; your sons and daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, and your young men shall see visions.” A person aiming his arrow at a target has to give his whole attention and focus to it to strike correctly. A person with a vision will have focus in life. Focus determines impact. When God gives you a vision in life, you become strong and everything will have a clarity. If there is any one in your family who does not have a vision, pray for them.
God bless you all!
