Faith
Focus Verse - Hebrews 11:6 - And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.
1. Faith is essential to relate with God.
Without faith, it is impossible to please God. Take any Bible character - Abraham, Elijah, Moses, David - they all pleased God with faith. Faith is not optional, but foundational.
Romans 10:17 - Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ.
John 20:29 - Then Jesus told him, “Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”
2 Corinthians 5:7 - For we live by faith, not by sight.
Real faith connects us with God and helps us to believe not only that He exists, but also rewards us when we earnestly seek Him.
2. Faith begins with knowing ‘God is real’.
Faith starts with recognizing God’s reality and presence.
Psalm 14:1 The fool says in his heart, “There is no God.” They are corrupt, their deeds are vile; there is no one who does good.
It’s simple logic that there’s a creator behind anything that exists.
Romans 1:20 - For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.
Jeremiah 29:13 - You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.
You cannot have a conversation with someone you do not believe exists.
3. Faith trusts that God rewards those who seek Him.
Faith believes not only that God exists, but that He responds.
Matthew 7:7 - Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.
Mark 11:24 - Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.
Psalm 34:10 - The lions may grow weak and hungry, but those who seek the Lord lack no good thing.
Just as a farmer sows seeds anticipating a great harvest, we must believe God with the expectation that He will bless and release His favor upon us.
4. Faith requires diligent pursuit.
Faith is active, not passive.
Hebrews 10:38 - But my righteous one will live by faith. And I take no pleasure in the one who shrinks back.
Always pray and not give up (Luke 18:1)
Galatians 6:9 - Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.
Miners dig deep into the earth in search of riches; and this would take weeks, months or years. Similarly, faith keeps pursuing God with expectation.
Declaration - My faith pleases God. I receive the rewards of believing today.
