Deliverance
Deliverance
Deliverance
Focus word: Deliverance
Focus verse: Psalms 18:2 “The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.”
Declaration: God is delivering me from every snare.
Some points on Deliverance:
Deliverance comes from the Lord alone.
Let us read Psalms 18:2 again; “The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.”
This is a declaration; the attitude of winners - they declare victory before they get the win. The speciality of the losers is that they call out failure even before they try or fail. Deliverance starts from the mind. Our mind is the battlefield. Deliverance is not human rescue, it is divine intervention. David does not say “strategy is my deliverer” or “army is my deliverer”, but he says “the Lord is my deliverer”.
God is both refuge and rescuer.
Proverbs 18:10 says “The name of the Lord is a fortified tower; the righteous run to it and are safe.”
There is freedom in the name of Jesus.
God is not only the one who delivers us out of the trouble, but also the one who protects us in that trouble. The fortress speaks of safety, the deliverer speaks of action. A fortress protects soldiers during attack, but a rescuer goes into danger to bring them out and God does both.
Deliverance is often born in desperate cry.
Psalm 18:6 says; “In my distress I called to the Lord; I cried to my God for help. From his temple he heard my voice; my cry came before him, into his ears.”
No matter how you express it, God sees it all!
Exodus 3:7 says The Lord said, “I have indeed seen the misery of my people in Egypt. I have heard them crying out because of their slave drivers, and I am concerned about their suffering.
Hebrews 13:8 says “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.”
He is an unchanging God! God responds to sincere cries. Deliverance begins when prayer becomes urgent. And God wants whole-hearted prayers.
Deliverance breaks bondage completely.
Colossians 1:13 says “For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves,”
There is a kingdom transfer here as we read in the scripture portion. Christianity is not a creed, it is an experience. You can experience Jesus, you can enjoy Jesus.
John 8:36 says So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.
Our freedom is not referring to political freedom, but the freedom from the Son is different. God does not partially free people, His deliverance transfers us from darkness into freedom. Because He is able to save us completely, absolutely and perfectly. God has given us the freedom, but we have to walk in this freedom, we have to walk in this deliverance.
Deliverance is meant to be lived, not admired.
Deliverance produces praise and testimony.
Psalms 107:13-14 says 13 Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble, and he saved them from their distress. 14 He brought them out of darkness, the utter darkness, and broke away their chains.
Revelation 12:11 says “They triumphed over him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death.
Testimony seals victory and strengthens others. They tell the story so that others may have hope. We should declare to the world that God saved us.
