Order
Focus Verse - 1 Corinthians 14:40 - But everything should be done in a fitting and orderly way.
1. Order reflects the nature of God.
Chaos is not God’s signature.
Genesis 1:2,3 - Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light.
The Earth was chaotic, there was no order, it was void, barren and empty. But then,God spoke; and creation unfolded in sequence, structure and rhythm. If God had created Adam first before anything else, he would not have had oxygen to breathe. God is a God or order and He’s well organised. God did not create anything randomly; He created systematically and progressively.
James 3:16,17 - For where you have envy and selfish ambition, there you find disorder and every evil practice. But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere.
This verse contrasts disorder with wisdom from above which is pure and peaceable
Colossians 2:5 - For though I am absent from you in body, I am present with you in spirit and delight to see how disciplined you are and how firm your faith in Christ is.
This verse speaks of being delighted to see good order and firmness of faith.
When God rules, disorder disappears. If God is shaping your life, He will bring alignment.
2. Order invites the presence of God.
Even in a powerful spiritual environment in Corinth (they had spiritual gifts), Paul insisted on order (1 Corinthians 14:40); because manifestation without structure produces confusion. Even when God moves powerfully, He is not moving carelessly.
When the tabernacle was set up exactly as instructed, the glory filled it (Exodus 40:33,34). God gave Moses a blueprint of a heavenly tabernacle and the Spirit of excellence/ skills to those who were to build it. Structure prepared space for glory.
An orchestra may have the best musicians in the world; but without a conductor and timing, it becomes noise; with order, it becomes harmony. When our life aligns with God’s design, His glory descends upon us.
3. Disorder weakens what God wants to strengthen.
Unfinished routines, undisciplined speech, unmanaged time, undissolved conflict - these are not small issues; they are structural cracks.
Proverbs 24:30,31 speaks about a field overgrown with thorns because of neglect.
Titus 1:5 - The reason I left you in Crete was that you might put in order what was left unfinished and appoint elders in every town, as I directed you.
God's Word emphasizes on disciplined living - 2 Thessalonians 3:7 - “For you yourselves know how you ought to follow our example. We were not idle when we were with you, nor did we eat anyone’s food without paying for it. On the contrary, we worked night and day, laboring and toiling so that we would not be a burden to any of you.”
Spiritual maturity includes structure. Ships do not sink because of water around them, ships sink because of water that gets into them. Disorder leaks strength.
Let’s introspect our own lives:
What needs organizing?
What needs finishing?
What needs alignment?
4. Divine order releases acceleration.
Order does not slow you down; rather it positions you for speed. When systems are aligned, movement becomes smoother.
Righteousness produces quietness and confidence. (Isaiah 32:17)
He will make your paths straight. (Proverbs 3:6)
There’s a time for everything. (Ecclesiastes 3:1)
Straight paths are ordered paths. Traffic without signals becomes gridlock; traffic with signals flows efficiently. Order creates flow.
Our God is highly organised and being our good Father, He desires the same in His beloved children.
Declaration - My steps are ordained by the Lord. Divine discipline keeps my life in alignment and peace.
