Victory
Focus Word - Victory
Focus Verse - 1 Corinthians 15:57 But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
1. Victory is given through Jesus Christ.
Victory is not achieved by human strength. It is received through Christ. The Cross acquired the victory before the battle began. A team celebrates not because every player scored, but because the captain won the match. Jesus is our victorious captain; and the victory of Jesus is our victory!
2. Victory was won at the Cross
Colossians 2:14,15 having canceled the charge of our legal indebtedness, which stood against us and condemned us; he has taken it away, nailing it to the cross. And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross.
The crucifixion of Jesus had a cosmic impact. Satan was defeated openly. The enemy we face today is already disarmed. The Cross crushed the enemy’s authority.
3. Victory is experienced by faith.
1 John 5:4 for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith.
Romans 8:37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.
Jesus actively conquered the devil - by His death he broke the power of him who held the power of death. And we are more than conquerors as we won the battle by faith in Christ Jesus, and not by battling with the devil. Victory is not the absence of battles; but the presence of faith in the battle. Many believers do not experience a victorious life, because they struggle to relate and believe that Jesus’ victory is their victory.
1 John 4:4 You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.
David did not wait for Goliath to fall before believing. David's faith was proactive rather than reactive, exercising confidence in God while the giant was still standing.David demonstrated this faith through his actions and words before the battle began: David said to the Philistine, “You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the Lord Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. (1 Samuel 17:45)
4. Victory requires standing firm.
Ephesians 6:13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.
2 Corinthians 2:14 But thanks be to God, who always leads us as captives in Christ’s triumphal procession and uses us to spread the aroma of the knowledge of him everywhere.
Standing is sometimes the greatest act of victory.
5. Victory produces thanksgiving and testimony
Exodus 15:2 The LORD is my strength and my defense; he has become my salvation. He is my God, and I will praise him, my father’s God, and I will exalt him.
Revelation 12:11 They triumphed over him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death.
Every victory becomes a testimony that glorifies God and strengthens others.
Declaration - I walk in victory today. Christ has overcome every battle on my behalf.
