Are You Focused?
The Bible gives us insight into the purpose of our lives—to serve the Lord. This is a general purpose for everyone. However, every creation has a unique, individual purpose. That is how God has designed each of us.
You have a purpose, and it is essential to move in that direction. Many people still do not know the purpose of their lives and, as a result, waste their time. Look to God, and He will reveal your purpose.
A person without a vision is the poorest of all. Always have a goal set in life.
Paul is an excellent example of someone who lived with a clear goal. His ultimate desire was to be with Christ, but he understood that his earthly mission was to help plant and nurture churches.
Philippians 1:20-26
Having a vision keeps you focused. Joseph's life provides a perfect example of focus. Despite being betrayed by his brothers, sold into slavery, imprisoned, and falsely accused by Potiphar’s wife, Joseph remained steadfast in the vision God had given him. Because of his focus, he was ultimately honored and placed in a position of great influence.
Similarly, Jesus is the ultimate example of focus and purpose.
Luke 9:51-53 ‘ As the time approached for him to be taken up to heaven, Jesus resolutely set out for Jerusalem. And he sent messengers on ahead, who went into a Samaritan village to get things ready for him; but the people there did not welcome him, because he was heading for Jerusalem.’
Jesus knew the pain and suffering that awaited Him in Jerusalem, yet He did not turn away. He understood that His purpose was to give His life as a ransom for sinners. He embraced His mission with courage and determination. He did not run away from his call. He went directly towards it.
Heb 12:1-3 ‘Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.’
Fight distractions and press forward. If God has given you a vision, He will equip you for the journey. Run with perseverance and fulfill the purpose He has set before you.
Summary
God has a unique purpose for each of us, and discovering it begins by seeking Him. A life without vision leads to wasted potential, but staying focused on God’s calling brings fulfillment. Like Joseph and Paul, we must persevere through challenges, trusting God’s guidance.
