Possession of Earthly Blessings
The highest blessing comes from the Most High. We've often heard El-Shaddai which means the all- powerful/ the Omnipotent God whereas El Elyon means God Most High.
We saw how Abraham’s single act of obedience to God’s calling released seven blessings upon his life. Your path of obedience will in turn become a path of blessing.
We also saw the three blessings that Melchizedek pronounced over Abraham in the name of El Elyon - heavenly blessings, earthly blessings, victory over enemies.
Heavenly Blessings
We saw how Abraham’s single act of obedience to God’s calling released seven blessings upon his life. Your path of obedience will in turn become a path of blessing.
We also saw the three blessings that Melchizedek pronounced over Abraham in the name of El Elyon - heavenly blessings, earthly blessings, victory over enemies.
Heavenly Blessings
- I will make you and your descendants great (elevate).
- God promised to increase Abraham's descendants so much that they will be too numerous to count. We saw the three illustrations that represent three categories of Abraham's descendants
- Dust of the Earth represents the descendants of Abraham that are born through Ishmael - the Arabs
- Sand on the Seashore represents the descendants of Abraham that are born through Isaac - the Jews
- Stars in the Sky represent the descendants of Abraham that are born through Christ - the New Testament believers. (Philippians 2:15, Matthew 5:14)
Earthly Blessings
God called Abraham to set out from Ur of the Chaldeans to go to Canaan. While on their journey through the path of obedience, God showered his blessings upon Abraham and all who were with him. The Lord had blessed him in every way. He had 318 trained men born in his household.
Years later, Abraham sent the chief servant of his household, Eleazar, to take a wife for his son, Isaac from his own country. Eleazar took ten of his master’s camels and departed with all manner of good things from his master in hand. And when he reached there, we read what he spoke of his master, Abraham in the following verse.
Genesis 24:35 - The LORD has blessed my master abundantly, and he has become wealthy. He has given him sheep and cattle, silver and gold, male and female servants, and camels and donkeys.
Proverbs 10:22 - The blessing of the LORD brings wealth, without painful toil for it.
There is a group of people who toil and work so hard but are unable to make enough to save money or to live a debt free life in spite of all members in their home having an income and toiling as hard. Somewhere there is a leakage and they need to make a change. On the other hand, there is another group of people who work hard but doesn’t have to toil as much, but they live in prosperity. If you fall in the former group where you are not able to come out of a certain pattern of debt and poverty, pray and believe that God can change your situation in a way that you will receive the highest blessings of El Elyon.
A child of God should be a hard worker but that in itself will make you successful; you need the blessing from El Elyon in your life. Set your priorities right. Abraham positioned God Most high above everything else and had a friendship with God. The one who puts God and the Kingdom affairs first will have a greater mileage in life than those around him/her. God blessed Abraham because of his obedience.
Matthew 6:33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
In short, the prime purpose of your life is to live for God and it is when you do so that God will take up your matters and make everything beautiful in His way and in His time! God gave Abraham lands, people, livestock, nations, wealth, health and everything.
God is looking for excellent stewards and managers to take care of his real estate called ‘the Earth’.
If we don’t take care of the earth, it will be destroyed by the worldly mafia.Matthew 5:5 Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.
Timothy 6:17 Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment.
We need to have a balance in life. Our hearts must always long for God and fellowship with Him, but as we worship and serve God, God will give us properties/assets/ houses as a by-product and God desires that we manage them rightly and in an excellent manner.
Luke 4:5-7 The devil led him up to a high place and showed him in an instant all the kingdoms of the world. And he said to him, “I will give you all their authority and splendor; it has been given to me, and I can give it to anyone I want to. If you worship me, it will all be yours.”
God made Adam the steward/ manager in the Garden of Eden, but he fell prey to Satan's ploy and was banished from the garden. But Jesus, the last Adam came to retrieve what was lost by the first Adam - multiplication and domain! God desires that trustworthy children of God would rise up and take care of God’s earth.
Satan claimed to Jesus that the kingdoms of the world had been given to him, but here lies the truth in Psalm 24:1 -The earth is the LORD's, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it;
The earthly blessings are the second category of blessings from El ELyon- God Most High!
