You Can Experience Blessings

Galatians 3:14 “He redeemed us in order that the blessing given to Abraham might come to the Gentiles through Christ Jesus, so that by faith we might receive the promise of the Spirit.”

We, the Gentiles, were redeemed to receive the blessings that were promised to Abraham 4000 years ago! And we receive the promise of the Spirit by faith alone. The blessings that were promised to Abraham and his generations are not limited to the Israelites alone, but are for all of us who have been adopted into God’s family by faith!

When someone believes in Jesus, we say that they have been saved or been born again. To be born again, we need the Holy Spirit. And when the Holy Spirit overflows in us and out of us, that is when we say we are ‘filled with the Spirit’. This Holy Spirit baptism connects us spiritually to receive the blessings and promises given to Abraham 4000 years ago.

Galatians 3:26-29 “²⁶ So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith, ²⁷ for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. ²⁸ There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. ²⁹ If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.”

We are heirs to this promise by law as we are also Abraham’s seed in Christ Jesus! If we can believe this truth, our life will change. The moment we are connected to Abraham through Christ Jesus, we become heirs to the promise by grace.  We receive it by faith when we have an infilling of the Holy Spirit !

Galatians 4:1-3 “What I am saying is that as long as an heir is underage, he is no different from a slave, although he owns the whole estate. ² The heir is subject to guardians and trustees until the time set by his father. ³ So also, when we were underage, we were in slavery under the elemental spiritual forces of the world. ”

A millionaire’s son is subject to the servant who looks after him till he comes of age; after which the servant becomes subject to him. Authority only comes with age and maturity; till then, an underage heir is just like any other servant. This holds true spiritually also. Technically we are legal heirs, but authority comes when we are spiritually mature.

 According to this passage:

1. The purpose of redemption is to receive Abraham’s blessings. 
2. These blessings come to us only through Christ. 
3. The more we grow in Christ, the more we are able to experience this blessing.
4. The most important blessing in the New Testament is the Holy Spirit.
5. First comes the spiritual blessings, and every other blessing needed for this life follows.
