Revelation From The Father
Matthew 16:17 ‘ Jesus replied, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by my Father in heaven.’
Who do people think I am? Jesus asked his disciples this question and each one of them answered differently.
Immediately Jesus questioned them again; ‘who do you think I am?’ What is your opinion?
Peter replied saying, "you are the son of God." To this Jesus replied, blessed are you Simon. From this verse we can understand that those who receive the revelation from the Father are blessed.
Revelation of who Christ really is comes from the Father. And those who receive it are truly blessed. With a worldly point of view no one can understand who Christ is.
There is only one way to know Christ. There are many theologians and scholars who study the Bible in depth but they don’t have the true knowledge about Christ.
Ephesians 1:17-18 ‘I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. 18 I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people,’
In another instance, during Jesus’ baptism again it is the Father who speaks from heaven saying ‘this is my beloved Son in whom I am well pleased’.
Through our spiritual eyes, the eyes of our heart, we can see Christ.
Matthew 5:8 ‘Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.’
1 Corinthians 2:2 ‘For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and him crucified.’
2 Corinthians 8:9 ‘For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor, so that you through his poverty might become rich.’
This is our Christ. His divine exchange on the cross for us. For our blessings and riches, for our healings he took all sickness and poverty upon himself.
To truly understand what he did for us on the cross, the spiritual exchange he made for us - his children, the eyes of our heart should be opened. We need to receive the revelation from God the Father.
