Greater Glory Is Ahead Of You
God’s children’s future is secure in Christ Jesus. He opens doors for His children (Revelation 4.1). Those who don’t believe in Jesus will be thrown into the lake of burning sulphur. They have no eternal future which is only for children of God for whom God has designed a heavenly city.
In John 1.43-51, Jesus gave a promise to Nathanael that he would see greater things: “Very truly I tell you, you will see ‘heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending on’ the Son of Man.”
This is also God’s promise to all His children: we would see great things ; heavenly visions and dreams etc. Saul who persecuted the believers was given heavenly visions after he had an encounter with Jesus.
Haggai 2.9 The glory of this present house will be greater than the glory of the former house,’ says the LORD Almighty. ‘And in this place I will grant peace, ’ declares the LORD Almighty.”
This was God’s promise to the Israelites after they rebuilt the Temple.
But in the New Testament, What does this mean?
Firstly our bodies are the temple of God ( 1 Corinthians 3.16 & 1 Corinthians 6.19)
Secondly, the church or fellowships are God’s temple. The glory of God in the 21st century would be more than the glory of God in the first century church.
The glory of God will fill the homes of children of God who worship Him/ pray to Him/ live in His presence/ meditate on His Word etc.
2 Corinthians 3.7-8 Now if the ministry that brought death, which was engraved in letters on stone, came with glory, so that the Israelites could not look steadily at the face of Moses because of its glory, transitory though it was, will not the ministry of the Spirit be even more glorious? If the ministry that brought condemnation was glorious, how much more glorious is the ministry that brings righteousness! For what was glorious has no glory now in comparison with the surpassing glory. And if what was transitory came with glory, how much greater is the glory of that which lasts! Therefore, since we have such a hope, we are very bold. We are not like Moses, who would put a veil over his face to prevent the Israelites from seeing the end of what was passing away. But their minds were made dull, for to this day the same veil remains when the old covenant is read. It has not been removed, because only in Christ is it taken away. Even to this day when Moses is read, a veil covers their hearts. But whenever anyone turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away.
Believers are ministers of God. In the Old testament, only Levites were priests for God. The Old covenant is not complete without the New Covenant.
Verses 17-18 Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.
We, who are God’s children, should come out of our limited vision and focus on our future in Christ. We are being transformed into his image with ever- increasing glory which comes from the Lord. He has kept a glorious future for us
