A Glorious Body

Though in today’s world we all have physical bodies, at the second coming of Jesus, we who have been clothed with Christ, will be transformed into glorious bodies. We need to have a clear knowledge of what’s awaiting us in the future so that we prepare ourselves accordingly.
For instance, medical students strive hard for 5-6 years to attain a doctoral degree, but during that process, they pursue with the hope of getting the status of a doctor in the community and treating patients in a good hospital.
In the like manner, Apostle Paul encourages us saying that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us. (Romans 8.18). Throughout world history, many who receive Lord Jesus and become children of God have been beaten up, rejected and persecuted by their own families, neighborhood, communities and religions. Paul was one such person who at first persecuted those who followed the Way and later was persecuted for the same. But Paul encourages us saying that when we go through such painful situations, we need to pursue keeping in mind these troubles are momentary and aren’t worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us and the rewards that Jesus has kept in store for us.
Hebrews 12:1,2 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
Being crucified is the most shameful thing and that’s what awaited the Creator of the Universe when He came to Earth in human form. Yet He endured the Cross disregarding its shame for He was motivated by the joy that was set before Him. One thing I’d like to highlight here is that even in our lives, the joy is set before us and not behind us. A majority of people reminisce about their childhood memories and quote them as ‘good old days’, devoid of stress and depression; but God has set many joyful things before you and not behind you. The joy that was set before Jesus is probably the children of God.
Romans 8:22, 23 - We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time. Not only so, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption to sonship, the redemption of our bodies.
Our salvation does not happen at once. Every human being has a spirit, a soul and a body. The moment we receive Jesus as Savior, our spirit is fully saved; whereas our soul has to be transformed step by step throughout our whole course of life and become like Jesus; and yet the salvation of our bodies is still pending which will be fulfilled at the second coming of Jesus and then we’ll experience the redemption of our bodies.
To know more about this, go through 1 Corinthians 15 that elaborates the resurrection and the glorious bodies of God’s people/ children. Just as a seed that’s buried crops up in a glorious manner giving out roots, stem, leaves, flowers and fruits; the funeral of God’s righteous is equivalent to the burial of a seed which will later take the form of glorious bodies in God’s appointed time.

Many who’ve died and returned to life shared that when a person approaches his/ her time of death, the spirit departs from the body before the person breathes his/ her last. Our life doesn’t end here on Earth, we have the whole stretch of eternity before us and therefore let’s live without the fear of death/ future/ our bodies knowing that before/ after death, we’re always safe in the hands of Jesus.
Being a child of God, everything regarding your life is taken care of by Abba, your Caretaker! Cast your burdens unto Jesus and He will sustain you. Let me once again remind you that worry is a blocker of blessings. Your times are in God’s hands!
