The Applied Word of God: Part 7

The Bible is a unique and a miracle book. There has been no other book like this, nor will there be. It is a divine library of 66 books. It is not a religious book but a divine revelation. It was written over a period of 1600 by authors who have never seen each other. This is indeed a miracle. It has only a single theme.
Only 56 hours are required to read the Bible, but the fact is that many Christians / Believers have not read the whole book. Our goal however is not to finish reading the Bible but to understand its message through divine revelation. If we read 40 chapters per day, we can finish the entire bible in 30 days. We can finish reading the New Testament in 30 days if we read 90 days a day.
If we don’t read the Bible where God tells us about Himself and about us and which also reveals our future, there is no point in living.
Revelation 1.3 speaks about the blessings we receive if we read the Word. It is our choice.
Romans 10.8 & 9 says “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith which we preach): that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
The Word contains the written word of God and spoken word of God. The written Word is Logos and when the Word specifically speaks to us it is called Rhema.
Hebrews 4.12 For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.
Some books are informative, and others are reformative, but the Bible is transformative. It changes us inside out and makes us a new creation.
John 6.63 The words I have spoken to you—they are full of the Spirit and life.
The Word of God is sharper than a sword that is sharp on both sides. It has penetrating power and it divides soul and spirit. The Word can penetrate physical and emotional joints: all connecting factors of relationships.
The Word goes deep into our inner marrow and heals/ corrects us, but it is limited to how much we allow it. We must believe in the power of the Word.
The Word judges.i.e. decide whether the thoughts and attitudes of our heart are good or bad.
A physical sword is normally put in a cover and worn round the waist. If it is not taken out of the cover, it is not sharp enough. Similarly, the Word which is a Sword must be taken out and applied in our lives. We need to speak it.
Acts 2.37 When the people heard this, they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and the other apostles, “Brothers, what shall we do?”
This is what happened on Pentecost day after Peter spoke in the power of the Holy Spirit. Peter who had earlier used a sword to cut off the ear of Malchus just before Jesus was taken to be crucified, now used a different Sword: a two-edged sword of the Word of God. He powerfully proclaimed the Word and the people were cut to their hearts. The effect that it had on the people was that they asked “What shall we do?” It was an act of repentance through the Word.
