The Applied Word of God: Part 8
God’s Word is always at work. Every word that comes out from the mouth of the Father bears fruit and does not return void.
Isaiah 55: 10-11
‘As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.’
God’s Word will always come to fulfilment. It is alive and active. The Word is sharper than a double edged sword. It penetrates the soul and spirit. It judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.
The Word of God is the Book of Life.
During the Pentecost when people heard the message preached by Peter, the Word pierced into their hearts. God’s Word is the surgical knife that can pierce one’s heart. And in turn this can lead to repentance.
Acts 2:38 ‘ Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.’
Ephesians 5:26 ‘’to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word,
Who is ‘her’ mentioned above in the verse?
It is the church. God cleanses the church with His Word. The Word of God has a cleansing effect.
John 15:3 ‘You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you.’
We, the church, are Christ’s bride and he washes and cleans us to make us holy.
Proverbs 18:4 ‘The words of the mouth are deep waters, but the fountain of wisdom is a rushing stream.’
The depth of a person can be understood by his words. We may say at times that a person is shallow.
It is said that all of us have a well inside of us. It is when this well fills and overflows, we speak things out.
Therefore, the depth of the well inside a person can be measured by the words coming out of his mouth.
On the other hand the well of wisdom is said to be a rushing stream. If you are a man or woman of wisdom, the words coming out of you are filled with wisdom. Our words are like water, its depth can be measured.
Jesus is the Word.
John 1: 1-3 ‘In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.’
God’s Word will flow like a river. And it is able to cleanse you. Hallelujah!
