The Applied Word of God: Part 13

In continuation to our series about the applied Word of God, we learnt that the Word of God is like water which flows through us washing and cleansing us. It is like honey which we taste and enjoy, and a light that guides our path, a fire that creates a passion in our hearts for God, a hammer that breaks what needs to be broken, a mirror that reflects the life of a child of God and so on. 
In Luke 4. 18-20, Jesus unrolled the Scriptures of Prophet Isaiah and read  “The Spirit of the Lord is on me,.......” . Then He said that the Scriptures have been fulfilled. Just as Jesus read His life story, we can read our life story, which includes our identity, our present and future situations,all our problems, what we are going to be, where we are headed and such in this book.
 
Reading the passage Psalm 29:3-9, we see how it is mentioned that the voice of the Lord is recorded as the Word of God.

 The voice of the LORD is over the waters; the God of glory thunders, the LORD thunders over the mighty waters. The voice of the LORD is powerful; the voice of the LORD is majestic. The voice of the LORD breaks the cedars; the LORD breaks in pieces the cedars of Lebanon. He makes Lebanon leap like a calf, Sirion like a young wild ox. The voice of the LORD strikes with flashes of lightning. The voice of the LORD shakes the desert; the LORD shakes the Desert of Kadesh. The voice of the LORD twists the oaks and strips the forests bare. And in his temple all cry, “Glory!”

God’s voice is very powerful, it is over the waters and His voice thunders. His voice is so powerful that it penetrates through nature, the universe and in everything that is in existence. God created everything through the spoken word, so His Voice which spoke the Word has entered into every creation and settled into it. EVerything in nature whether it be birds, oceans, trees, fishes, stars, galaxies etc, they all produce sounds which come from within them. All the sounds are not audible to humans.  
 
Isaiah 40:3 says, A voice of one calling: “In the wilderness prepare the way for the Lord; make straight in the desert a highway for our God.
This was prophesied by Isaiah regarding John the Baptist 700 years before it happened. It is fulfilled in Matthew 3. 
He (John the Baptist) stood as the “Voice of the Lord” in that generation to prepare the Way in the hearts of people for Jesus. And because of that many hearts repented and were saved. 
We too can be the “Voice of the Lord” that speaks the Word and brings people to Jesus.
 
Joshua 1:8 says, Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.
 
Joshua was the next in line to take over as the successor to Moses. Moses was the most powerful leader chosen by God in the Old testament to lead the Israelites. However, it was Joshua and not Moses who led them into the Promised Land. The only instruction that was given to him by the Lord was to always keep this book of the law on his lips. The Word should never leave our lips too. As it is written in Romans 10, the Word of God should be in our mouth and close to our hearts. Though Joshua was a great Warrior, trained under Moses, God’s instruction to Him was to be totally dependent on the Word. This was the key to success given to Joshua by God in order to become victorious and establish the Kingdom of Israel.

Whoever and wherever we may be in life, the key to success is to meditate on the Word of God day and night. This book will be your guiding lamp and will come into your life like a sword. It will cleanse your life and you will enjoy its sweetness like that of honey. The Word of God should be like your companion, always with you no matter the time or place. Our key to success/ victory is to meditate this Word of God day and night.
