The Applied Word of God - Part 15
In many of our lives, we have the Bible at home in an untouched state. But these days, we’re discovering how the Word can impact our lives if we apply the principle, the messages and the facts in our day-to-day life.
The Voice of the Lord created everything that we see today in this world. (Psalm 29:3-9) and Isaiah 40:3 challenges us to be the voice of God in today’s generation.
Success gurus give many tips to lead a successful life and each guru’s description would be different from the other. After the death of Moses, Joshua was entrusted with a huge task of leading the Israelites to the promised land and getting them settled. God promised Joshua to be with him as He was with Moses, but the Lord commanded Joshua to meditate on the Book of the Law/ the Word day and night so that he’d prosper in everything and as we know Joshua became one of the successful Bible heroes.
Yesterday, I mentioned few practical tips regarding this from Psalm 1:
Life is not a sprint, but a marathon! And just as an olympics racer cannot take a break in between, there’s no sabbatical leave in the journey of life. Our body may need rest, but God has already set our destiny within us, and we need to head towards it.
While Psalm 1:1 gives the don’ts, Psalm 1:2,3 tells us what to do in order to be blessed and the result of it - Blessed is the one whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night. That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither— whatever they do prospers.
Biblically, the key to success and prosperity is meditation and confession of the Word.
Psalm 92:12-14 The righteous will flourish like a palm tree, they will grow like a cedar of Lebanon; planted in the house of the Lord, they will flourish in the courts of our God. They will still bear fruit in old age, they will stay fresh and green.
Do you have a flourishing experience in your life? If not, try this: meditate on God’s Word day and night. It may be a bit difficult in the beginning, but if you invest your time and deliberately set your mind on the Word, it will later become a lifestyle and God’s Word will minister to you.
You have to be very careful of what you hear (Mark 4:24). In John 10, Jesus says, “My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. But they will never follow a stranger; in fact, they will run away from him because they do not recognize a stranger’s voice.”
Therefore, we should build a noise cancellation mechanism within us so that we won’t be disturbed by the unwanted noise that’s around us (not all tv channels or youtube channels or every music is meant for a child of God) and instead hear God’s Word with clarity on a daily basis and in every phase of life.
The righteous will flourish like a palm tree. We see palm trees in the desert, which are deep-rooted and can withstand the sandstorm. The cedar tree is one such strong tree. As per the New Testament, we are God’s righteous because we believe in Jesus, and as we stay planted in the house of the Lord, we will flourish in God’s presence, bear fruit even in old age and stay fresh and green just like the evergreen palm tree and cedar tree.
God is not against us being involved in home/work/ public/ ministry affairs; but the Holy Spirit is the best success coach and He’ll help us develop a lifestyle of meditating on the Word - to read and ruminate a portion of the Scripture each day, receive new revelations and be nourished by the same.

- Do not walk in step with the wicked
- Do not stand in the way that sinners take
- Do not sit in the company of mockers, and
- Fix our eyes on Jesus, the captain of faith and run with endurance the race set out for us. (Hebrews 12:1,2)
