Son, Servant & Slave
Romans 6:6-7 ‘For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body ruled by sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin— because anyone who has died has been set free from sin.’
What does receiving salvation mean? What happens to a person who receives Jesus? The first few months after being baptised all of us are zealous for God but then this fire slowly stops burning in us. To put it plainly, we become like meat stored in a freezer. We become frozen. That is not what God wants for us.
He wants us to be a blazing fire for him. Our hearts should burn for Christ.
Colossians 1:27 ‘To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.’
Our old master was sin but once we were crucified with Christ, our new master is Jesus. He is the King of Kings and is dwelling in us.
Sin is still present in this world but there comes a day when all of the sin is eliminated. The whole of creation waits for this great day of the Lord.
We have to be on guard and not let sin take the throne in our hearts again.
Genesis 4:7 ‘If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must rule over it.”’
God wants us to rule over the sin of this world. We need to be alert and stand guard. Sin is always crouching at the door. If we give God the key to our hearts and make him Lord, he will keep you safe from sin. He is mighty to save you and protect you.
Hebrews 12:4 ‘In your struggle against sin, you have not yet resisted to the point of shedding your blood.’
There are many aspects to our relationship with God.
