How To Handle The World?
Today we will look into how an individual can handle the world? The world here refers not to the creations of the universe but it is the world's system or how the world functions.
1 John 5:19
We know that we are children of God, and that the whole world is under the control of the evil one.
John 1 :12
Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God
If we are born again the whole world is under the control of the devil.God is not in control of this world . God is the sovereign power but the Bible says in this world the evil one is in control. God never controls anyone; he is a leader. The Holy Spirit never controls only leads and never does anyone force. The entire world system department of this world like politics ,arts, science and entertainment etc all are under the devil's power. In the future all will belong to God after refining ,a new world will happen. We are not citizens of this world ,once we were slaves of demons now we are delivered and saved.
There are few ways to handle the world.
Galatians 6:14
14 May I never boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which[a] the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.
Colossians 1:20-23
things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.
21 Once you were alienated from God and were enemies in your minds because of[a] your evil behaviour. 22 But now he has reconciled you by Christ’s physical body through death to present you holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation— 23 if you continue in your faith, established and firm, and do not move from the hope held out in the gospel. This is the gospel that you heard and that has been proclaimed to every creature under heaven, and of which I, Paul, have become a servant
We should all die to this world and the one who is crucified will die to the world and its already existing systems.
2. Come out of this world.
1 John 15:19
If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you.
Colossians 1:13
For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves,
We all should strive to come out of the systems of the existing world. Many though they are saved can't get out of sinful life . This is dangerous if we continue to be so.
3. Do not conform to the patterns of this world.
Romans 12:2
Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
Never go to the fashions of the world and go for what others are doing. Avoid having peer pressure but try to be transformed.
4. Do not love the world.
This does not mean we should not love one another or not enjoy the world creation or universe. This basically refers to one not loving and being addicted to the world systems and its evil ways.
1 John 2 :15
15 Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father[a] is not in them.
Luke 9: 23-25
Then he said to them all: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me. 24 For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will save it. 25 What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, and yet lose or forfeit their very self?
5. Overcome the world
We should all try to win over this world with faith .
1 John 5:4
4 for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith.
6. Hate the world.
This means we should tend to hate or envy the world systems and its dominion by the evil power
Hebrew 1:9
9 You have loved righteousness and hated wickedness;
therefore God, your God, has set you above your companions
by anointing you with the oil of joy.”
7. Be aliens to this world
We all are not the citizens of this world but have become more like foreigners to this world.
1 Peter 2 :11
Dear friends, I urge you, as foreigners and exiles, to abstain from sinful desires, which wage war against your soul.
8. You are suffering persecution in this world.
John 16: 23
And on that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you
Mathew 5:10-12
Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
11 “Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. 12 Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
Romans 8: 20-23
For the creation was subjected to frustration, not by its own choice, but by the will of the one who subjected it, in hope 21 that[a] the creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the freedom and glory of the children of God.
22 We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time. 23 Not only so, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption to sonship, the redemption of our bodies.
We all have sufferings and percussion but must be equipped to deal with the world while fighting the evil forces of this world.
