The Civil War And Cease Fire
What do you think was the greatest War that has ever happened in human history? Yes, there have been many but the greatest battle is happening within
each of us.
In Other Words in every individual there is an invisible or internal civil war going on. The fight between the flesh and the spirit. This happens among both the believers and non-believers.
Non-believers continue to be in flesh and live according to the flesh but in believers it's when they live after the flesh. In both cases there is an ultimate cry.
Firstly we see ultimate frustrated cry and second we see the ultimate victory cry that is seen in a Romans chapter 8
Romans 8: 5-6
Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. 6 The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace.
Romans 8:7-8
The mind governed by the flesh is hostile to God; it does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so. 8 Those who are in the realm of the flesh cannot please God.
There is always a conflict between or an invisible war where the flesh opposes the spirit . The flesh is always self centered whereas the spirit is Christ centered.
Apostle Paul explains how it is to live in victory . Many believers have experienced failures and downs in their lives when they live after the flesh. Always understand the real identity is not flesh but the spirit.
Real believer lives in the Spirit not in the flesh. The Holy Spirit is in our spirit and will always remain in us forever. Let's look into Gideon who was getting ready for war and God told him to carry a fire ball inside earthen pots, this a shadow of the victory to be seen in Christ.
2 Corinthians 4:7
But we have this treasure in clay jars, so that it may be made clear that this extraordinary power belongs to God and does not come from us.”
Whenever the flesh is defeated the spirit gets delivered.
Genesis 25:23
The LORD said to her, 'Two nations are in your womb, and two peoples from within you will be separated; one people will be stronger than the other, and the older will serve the younger.
God is speaking to Rebecca about two children and this shows the older will serve the younger or that the old self which is the flesh controlled will be dominated by the Spirit. The Spirit will rule the flesh.
Galatians 4:29-31
29 At that time the son born according to the flesh persecuted the son born by the power of the Spirit. It is the same now. 30 But what does Scripture say? “Get rid of the slave woman and her son, for the slave woman’s son will never share in the inheritance with the free woman’s son.”[a] 31 Therefore, brothers and sisters, we are not children of the slave woman, but of the free woman.
The flesh and the Spirit are in a civil war and the victory comes when abiding in Christ and living in the Spirit.
