Fight From The Victory
A man once said, “there is a scarcity of the Word of God in many places.” You have been called to feed the hungry. You are responsible to preach the Word.
You carry a basket full of seeds of the Word.
Illustration: When you have family time at home in the evenings, the kids and adults talk about many things. Things regarding the events happening around, the news, etc.
But when it is time for the family prayer, even the adults in the house hesitate to pray. No one wants to lead the prayer. Why is that?
When you sit to pray, the flesh gets activated. The flesh is weak.
Weakness - Sickness - Death. Death is the superlative of weakness. There is nothing beyond death. You won't become weak once you are dead. If you are weak or sick there is still time for you to heal.
If you live in the flesh and listen to the flesh, then your spirit becomes weak.
We are crucified with Christ. It is no longer us but Christ who lives in us. From this time on the fight between the flesh and spirit began.
Fight begins after the victory. We are fighting from the victory that Christ has given us.
Gal 5:24 ‘Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.’
Instead of treating the fruit of the flesh, we need to treat the root of the flesh. How do we do that? We need to go to the cross.
Jesus was crucified in the flesh to give us victory in our flesh.
Romans 6:11 ‘In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus.’
Romans 13:14 ‘Rather, clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not think about how to gratify the desires of the flesh.’
Psalms 119:11 ‘I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.’
We need to have the Word of God inside of us in order to help us overcome sin.
1 Timothy 6:11 ‘But you, man of God, flee from all this, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance and gentleness.’
Christ gave us a victory at the cross of Calvary. We are already winners but we need to fight. We need to fight against the flesh.
2 Timothy 2:22 ‘ Flee the evil desires of youth and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.’
You don’t have to follow the ways of the world. Stay away from all the sinful desires. Paul tells us to pursue righteousness.
