What Is The Law Of Spirit Of Life?
We know that God does not punish or condemn us for our sins because Jesus already took it up for us on the cross. However, the devil, through people and thoughts, makes us doubt God's forgiveness.
Romans 8:1,2 “Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death.”
This passage is one of triumph. It sheds light on two laws: one of the Spirit and one of the law of sin and death.
A law is something that happens over and over everywhere. Some are enforced as laws to make it happen everywhere like our state laws. Natural laws, on the other hand, organically happen everywhere without our action. The law of Gravity is one such law.
If we violate state laws, there is a punishment.
The law of sin is what brings out automatic reactions from us like anger, jealousy, etc. The wages of sin is death. So this law of sin ultimately leads us to death. The sinful flesh is weak and results in death which is the law of death .
Romans 8:3-4
“For what the law was powerless to do because it was weakened by the flesh, God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh to be a sin offering. And so he condemned sin in the flesh, in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.”
The Law of the Spirit of Life has broken the law of sin and death.
There are two ways by which we can be free from a particular Law. Firstly, if we die to it and secondly if another law supersedes or has greater power than the first law.
The law of Spirit of life has Spirit, Life and power which supersedes and has more power than the law of sin and death.
If we have the Spirit of God in us, it is the spirit of life. It will grow. It has power and will break the hold of sin and death on us and set us free. The devil or sin or death cannot defeat us anymore.
The Spirit of Life has given us complete freedom through the power of Jesus’ resurrection which we received when we are born again.
