This Can Be Your Story - Part 15
We all would have gone through/may come across some, if not all aspects of Joseph’s life in our own lives. Joseph endured severe trials right from his late teens, but God was with Joseph and blessed him to be an exalted ruler! You too will have an exaltation in life if you are walking with God. We should never forget that promotion comes from the Lord.
We’re now in Genesis 41, where 2 years after the restoration of the cupbearer (just as Joseph had interpreted the cupbearer's dream), Pharaoh had two dreams which neither the magicians nor the wise men in Egypt could interpret for him. And now, the cupbearer recalled his failures and told about Joseph to Pharaoh.
Psalm 103:2 Praise the LORD, my soul, and forget not all his benefits
The Word tells us to never forget God’s benefits in our lives. However, even if we forget, God can remind us of the same through certain circumstances, just as it happened with the cupbearer.
The chief cupbearer said to Pharaoh, “Today I recall my shortcomings. Pharaoh was once angry with his servants, and he put me and the chief baker in the custody of the captain of the guard. One night both the chief baker and I had dreams, and each dream had its own meaning. Now a young Hebrew was there with us, a servant of the captain of the guard. We told him our dreams and he interpreted them for us individually. And it happened to us just as he had interpreted: I was restored to my position, and the other man was hanged.”
God can deal with anybody through dreams, even with non-believers. Pharaoh had no connection with the true God. The Holy Spirit can communicate with any human through dreams.
So Pharaoh sent for Joseph, who was quickly brought out of the dungeon. After he had shaved and changed his clothes, he went in before Pharaoh.
Pharaoh once again narrated the two dreams to Joseph, and God gave him a sound answer through Joseph. Joseph didn’t just interpret the dreams for Pharaoh, but he also advised the practical measures to be implemented when those dreams will be fulfilled.
Genesis 41:33-36
Now, therefore, Pharaoh should look for a discerning and wise man and set him over the land of Egypt. Let Pharaoh take action and appoint commissioners over the land to take a fifth of the harvest of Egypt during the seven years of abundance. Under the authority of Pharaoh, let them collect all the excess food from these good years, that they may come and lay up the grain to be preserved as food in the cities. This food will be a reserve for the land during the seven years of famine to come upon the land of Egypt. Then the country will not perish in the famine.
We now see the ‘overnight miracle’ that God did in Joseph’s life.
Genesis 41:37- 40
This proposal pleased Pharaoh and all his officials. So Pharaoh asked them, “Can we find anyone like this man, in whom the Spirit of God abides?” Then Pharaoh said to Joseph, “Since God has made all this known to you, there is no one as discerning and wise as you. You shall be in charge of my house, and all my people are to obey your commands. Only with regard to the throne will I be greater than you.”
Aaron’s rod that budded is another example of an overnight miracle. (Numbers 17:1-10)
Numbers 17:7-8
Moses placed the staff before the LORD in the tent of the covenant law. The next day Moses entered the tent and saw that Aaron’s staff, which represented the tribe of Levi, had not only sprouted but had budded, blossomed and produced almonds.
God caused Aaron’s staff to not just sprout, but to bud, blossom and produce almonds as well, and that too overnight! If you’re someone whose graph has been going down over the past days/months/ years, God can take you to heights through an overnight miracle. Nothing is impossible with God. Those who hope in the Lord will never be disappointed. Amen!
God quickly shifted things in Joseph’s life. Hearing Joseph’s interpretation and counsel, Pharaoh considered it propitious to appoint Joseph in charge of his palace and the whole land of Egypt.
Genesis 41:39-40
Then Pharaoh said to Joseph, “Since God has made all this known to you, there is no one so discerning and wise as you. You shall be in charge of my palace, and all my people are to submit to your orders. Only with respect to the throne will I be greater than you.”
Psalm 84:11
For the LORD God is a sun and shield; the LORD bestows favour and honour. No good thing does he withhold from those who walk uprightly.
Psalm 34:10
The young lions lack and suffer hunger; But those who seek the LORD shall not lack any good thing.
God has prepared a banquet table for you! He’s reversing things for good. A divine exchange is on the way and He’s going to establish you. Days are coming where songs of victory will resonate from your home and your mourning will turn into dancing. God is on the move in order to exalt you. Hallelujah! Praise God!!
Genesis 41:41- 43
So Pharaoh said to Joseph, “I hereby put you in charge of the whole land of Egypt.” Then Pharaoh took his signet ring from his finger and put it on Joseph’s finger. He dressed him in robes of fine linen and put a gold chain around his neck. He had him ride in a chariot as his second-in-command, and people shouted before him, “Make way !” Thus he put him in charge of the whole land of Egypt.
Where did it all start? From his brothers throwing him into the cistern, after which he was treated as a commodity and sold to the Egyptians as a slave. Whatever be it, in due time, God exalted Joseph and all who accused him, rejected him, cooked false stories against him are now under his rulership. WOW! God can exalt you too in this manner; this is a true story and it is relevant for every child of God.
If you’re someone who has tasted only troubles all your life; it ain’t going to be so forever. A divine upgradation is on the way; and when God exalts you, nobody can bring you down. Hallelujah!! The Lord will release His favour and honour you; provided you cling to God in and keep a good attitude during your tough phase in life. Love your enemies. Do not repay evil with evil, or insult with insult. Overcome evil with good.
Genesis 41:44 Then Pharaoh said to Joseph, “I am Pharaoh, but without your word no one will lift hand or foot in all Egypt.”
Joseph was given authority over the whole nation of Egypt
Genesis 41:45 Pharaoh gave Joseph the name Zaphenath-Paneah and gave him Asenath, daughter of Potiphera, priest of On, to be his wife. And Joseph went throughout the land of Egypt.
While Potiphar’s wife tried to sexually defile him, Joseph ran away. Later, when it was time, Pharaoh brought a suitable proposal and gave Asenath, daughter of Potiphera, priest of On, to be his wife. The devil will try to spoil people’s lives right in their juvenile years by trapping them in sexual sins or wrong relationships. But if you overcome that, you’ll be able to enter into a good marriage.
God’s ways are unfathomable. God has prepared beyond what human minds can comprehend for His children; and we need to believe it. God will not reveal everything. God is a God of mysteries, and will reveal the needful in due time; until then your part is to trust in Him, stand firm in faith and lead a life, holy and pleasing to God. Hallelujah!
