This Can Be Your Story - Part 18

Today we will start from Genesis 42. This mainly emphasizes Joseph as a ruler over all things. The seven years of famine was revealed to Joseph after nearly two years and he began to see blessings come in his life. Similarly, in order for us to be more fruitful in life we may need to first be ready to go through a deep healing phase where we wipe off all negativity in our heart and put a fresh slate for God to work on. God always reveals a picture of our future but we should pray to see and get in that realm. 

Genesis 42:1-2
When Jacob learned that there was grain in Egypt, he said to his sons, “Why do you just keep looking at each other?” He continued, “I have heard that there is grain in Egypt. Go down there and buy some for us, so that we may live and not die.”

Here onwards the scene is shifting to the place of Canaan where Jacob is residing. There has been famine at this place and the only place that has grains is in Egypt hence Jacob is asking his sons, except his youngest one to go down to Egypt and get some grains to be able to survive. Egypt is the only place with abundance, because of a faithful believer living there, that is Joseph.

One thing to note here is the question that Jacob asks, “Why do you just keep looking at each other?”. This is basically what is happening in many homes. Whenever a problem or crisis strikes, everyone merely stares at each other and does nothing to fight the battle. We all should remember even if it's men or women in a family that requires a solution to stand up, stand firm in faith and pray. Ask God and take steps of faith. You will undoubtedly see changes happening to your circumstances. Women must come out of their comfort zone and be ready to do anything in faith. One example is when a financial crisis like debt strikes. This is not the time to rely just on prayer and wait. But always adhere to the fact that God gave us a body to earn and live. This is what God commanded Adam. We should be ready to accept any work and live. Do not think anything is not fit for your status. Always be humble enough to go low and God will lift you up.

Genesis 42:3-4
Then ten of Joseph’s brothers went down to buy grain from Egypt. But Jacob did not send Benjamin, Joseph’s brother, with the others, because he was afraid that harm might come to him.

 This shows the people who are being sent down to buy grains from Egypt .

Genesis 42: 6
Now Joseph was the governor of the land, the person who sold grain to all its people. So when Joseph’s brothers arrived, they bowed down to him with their faces to the ground.

This is a very magnificent scene when the 10 Brothers come to see Joseph. They see him in a glorious position and this makes them bow down to him .

Although they didn't recognize him as Joseph. Joseph recognized his brothers .
This is a start to see how the single dream that Joseph saw when he was a teenager is coming to fulfilment.
