Tranquillity in Turbulent waters

The Bible is the living Word. All other books are dead. It has information but is lifeless. (John 6:63)
Psalm 46:1-3
“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging.”
If God is our refuge, strength and our ever present help; and we know that, then we do not have to fear anything in life. Jesus proved this in his time on earth. Even in the storm, Jesus was unshaken and calmed the sea.
John 14:1-3
“Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.”
However, we let ourselves worry about the smallest problems. But Jesus tells us not to be troubled and to put our trust in Him.
John 12:27
“Now my soul is troubled, and what shall I say? ‘Father, save me from this hour’? No, it was for this very reason I came to this hour.”
Jesus, before his crucifixion, took up all our troubles on himself. Now we can know that all our problems have died at the cross and trust in God. There has been a transfer of our worries to Jesus who is our ever present help.
Sometimes, our situation is so dark that we do not see Jesus who stands close to us. Hagar in the Old Testament, had such an experience when she was left helpless. She was completely alone and cried out to God for water. She did not see the spring which was near to her. God opened her eyes to see it. This can happen to us too. Our eyes might be blinded with our tears of sorrow that we miss to see the blessings or the angels that God sends our way.
To those who believe in Jesus, He gives godly peace, which is not of this world.
John 14:27 “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”
We can trust in the peace and promise that Jesus gives us. He thinks beyond this life and is preparing us for eternity! He knows that we will face troubles and problems but He gives us an assurance in advance that He is going to Heaven to prepare a home for us. But while on earth, He gives us peace as we go through problems, we need only believe and trust Him.
When Jesus came to the world, He faced many difficulties and trials. People ridiculed him and abused him for the things He said and did. He has gone through more pain than we ever will. It is this same Jesus who tells us not to be troubled. He is not a stranger to troubles. He understands what we feel and has gone through even more than we have. But he also knows the plan God has for our lives.
You don’t have to wait to overcome your situation to find peace, Jesus gives us His heavenly peace which is beyond our understanding. This peace that is available to us through Christ is a miracle. We must be founded on the truth that God is our refuge and strength, an ever present help and live in the peace that He gives us knowing that our problems are temporary and will be solved by Him.
