Jesus In The Storms Of Life
We are looking into how Jesus handled everything despite any storm that affected his life. He always battled to victory with his strong faith and complete submission to use the weapon of the word of God. We all should ultimately aim for the same.
In the book of Acts, chapter 12, we can see an interesting story about how Peter remained calm in the jail and in between the soldiers. He was able to do so and be at peace because of a sort of training he received while he was on the boat in the rough sea where he saw how Jesus remained calm and slept amidst the turbulent waves and the panic that ensued.
Psalm 34:19
The righteous person may have many troubles, but the LORD delivers him from them all
Here it clearly says that even if a righteous person is fully righteous he will have many struggles in life but God will deliver him of all. This is what Jesus taught everyone never to be troubled or dismayed but to always find peace in him.
John 16:33
I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”
We live in a world where religious people think killing others, especially Christians is a good act. We all saw how Jesus was never stressed or under any tension even though he was a human being just like us with flesh and blood. He too experienced all physical and emotional changes but with His complete faith, He overcame all things.
Let's relate to how it feels when we travel in a ship or a boat. When the boat hits rough waves there are high chances for the boat to toss or flip. Similarly, with an aircraft, we often hear the pilots saying due to high turbulence, passengers should remain seated.
Jesus when in the boat, on the rough sea, not only did He rebuke the wind but also calmed the waves.
Mark 4:35-39
Jesus Calms the Storm
That day when evening came, he said to his disciples, “Let us go over to the other side.” Leaving the crowd behind, they took him along, just as he was, in the boat. There were also other boats with him. A furious squall came up, and the waves broke over the boat, so that it was nearly swamped. Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. The disciples woke him and said to him, “Teacher, don’t you care if we drown?” He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Quiet! Be still!” Then the wind died down and it was completely calm.
Jesus said "Quiet, be still!" These words were enough to calm the situation. Similarly, no matter what the enemy has plotted against us or the rough patches that we go through, our God is higher and above all this.
1 John 4:4
You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.
Jesus Christ is enough to deliver us completely and the same Jesus who calmed the storm 2000 years ago, calms the storms in our lives even today.
Hebrews 13:8
He is the same yesterday, today and forever.
