You Can Come Out Of The Pits

In an experiment conducted on rats, it was found that many rats who were put in a bucket of water and had water sprayed on them survived for 17 hours floating on the surface. They were taken out, dried and fed when they were on the point of sinking and put back again. This time they survived for 37 hours as they had the hope/expectation of surviving.
Similarly, if we have overcome troubles and come out once, we too will have a hope or expectation of overcoming again. Our past victories where God has helped through troubled times helps us overcome present and future trials that we face in life.
1 Corinthians 10:13 says “No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.”
There is a way out for every trouble or trial or temptation in life. Just as solutions for word Puzzles are always given, for every problem there is a solution attached..
There are many biblical examples for this. For instance, after man fell in Genesis chapter 3, God provided a “way out” or solution in verse 15.
Genesis 3:15
And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; he will crush your head, and you will strike his heel.”
In Genesis chapter 22, we see that God had already provided a ram as a substitute for Isaac when Abraham was climbing the mountain to sacrifice him. In Genesis 21.19, God opened Hagar’s eyes to see a well of water near her when she cried out to the Lord in the desert. We see the same with many bible characters; along with a problem we see a solution attached. We are sometimes interested in going to the solution or our eyes are closed to it or we are not ready to trust God. It is those who think that there is no solution to their problem who commit suicide. As long as our God sits on the throne, we have solutions to our problems.
Zechariah 9:11-12
As for you, because of the blood of my covenant with you, I will free your prisoners from the waterless pit. Return to your fortress, you prisoners of hope; even now I announce that I will restore twice as much to you.
The Israelites had been under Babylonian captivity for 70 years, when King Cyrus gave an edict to release them from their captivity. It was at this time that Prophet Zechariah prophesied to them giving them hope of freedom from a waterless pit. Prisoners during those times were put in pits/ holes dug underground where they would be not given water or food. Though the Israelites were not actually put in such dungeons, they experienced such a hopeless life in another country where they were slaves. It is this Word of prophecy that gave them hope.
The same is true for us too. Like the rats that were able to handle the water for 37 hours the second time because of the past experience where they were delivered gave them hope, we too can depend on God to deliver us like He has done in our past. Secondly, God’s word of prophecy gives us hope that we will be delivered.
Psalm 40:1-3
I waited patiently for the LORD; he turned to me and heard my cry. 2 He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand. 3 He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear the LORD and put their trust in him.
We must trust God to deliver us from all our troubles.
Psalm 30:3
You, LORD, brought me up from the realm of the dead; you spared me from going down to the pit.
God spares us from death.
Psalm 103:3-4
who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion,
There is a God who rescues and delivers us from all our pits and troubles.
