Let’s Go Up To Worship God
God won't allow our head to bow down in shame. You need not worry that there is no one to help you. Having faith in the Lord means holding your head up high in confidence. The Israelites were in bondage and God brought them from out of Egypt into the promised land so that they could worship Him. Worship is the key to everything. When you worship there is a release. Worship opens doors. Worship is important for spiritual growth. And worship brings down the ambience of heaven.
God brought them from the land of slavery into the promised land – Canaan. They built a tabernacle on Mount Zion to worship God. Each time they would all go up the mountain to worship God together.
In Hebrew the term used is ‘Alaya’, meaning – let’s go up to the mountain to worship the Lord. Psalm 121 is a song of ‘Alaya’.
Psalm 121
‘I lift up my eyes to the mountains where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.
He will not let your foot slip he who watches over you will not slumber;
indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.
The Lord watches over you the Lord is your shade at your right hand;
the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night.
The Lord will keep you from all harm he will watch over your life;
the Lord will watch over your coming and going
both now and forevermore.’
In those days, there were many kingdoms and they worshipped different gods. Egypt, Syria, Rome, Babylon all had a different god. But the God of Israel is the one true God. And He is the God of the universe. Hallelujah!
And this was their confidence. They knew that in every battle they would emerge victorious because their God was the Master of the universe. They served a living God.
We too need to have this confirmation inside. We have the supreme help. Because there is no other god than ours. He will not let your foot slip. He who watches over you will neither sleep nor slumber. Don’t ever think that you are alone!
Even when everyone else sleeps; be it the watchman at the gate or the soldiers who protect the country, our God never sleeps. He keeps watch over his children.
Psalm 121:5
‘The Lord watches over you the Lord is your shade at your right hand;’
You are in an Alaya. Our connection is upwards to heaven.
Testimony
Let’s look at the testimony of Manjusha from Vaikom. She got married back in 2016 and within a few months she was pregnant. But unfortunately she lost the baby due to certain complications. The next five years she went for various treatments but all in vain.
In 2019, her relative introduced her to Blessing Today and she started watching our TV programs. Following which she started attending the Sunday services at church and even took water baptism.
As it was during Covid, the services were shifted to the online platform. And in one of the services, Pastor called out the name Manjusha and said that God was going to bless her with a baby. Manjusha’s cousin immediately called her up and told her that Pastor had prophesied that she was going to be blessed with a baby.
Manjusha couldn’t attend the online service but nevertheless she believed that God was going to bless her. And because of her faith she is blessed with a beautiful baby girl.
Summary
We serve an amazing, almighty and powerful God. This is our confidence and strength. We need to trust that He does everything for the best. The same God that brought Israel into the promised land is mighty to save you. Hallelujah!
