God Raises The Poor From The Dust
Our God has a history of making a grand entrance into the lives of many ordinary people and making them extraordinary for the Kingdom of Heaven. God can do the same for you too. He can make your life exciting and purposeful.
In the Old Testament, we have read about Hannah. She was the second wife of Elkanah. Hannah was childless and because of that she was always hurt and ridiculed by Peninnah. Nevertheless, Elkanah loved Hannah more.
Every year Elkanah and his two wives would go to offer sacrifices to the Lord at Shiloh. And in that year, all of the hurt and emotions that Hannah kept buried inside; she poured it out to the Lord.
Eli the prophet was watching her from a distance. He went up to her thinking that she was drunk. To this Hannah replied –
1 Samuel 1:15-16
“Not so, my lord,” Hannah replied, “I am a woman who is deeply troubled. I have not been drinking wine or beer; I was pouring out my soul to the Lord. Do not take your servant for a wicked woman; I have been praying here out of my great anguish and grief.”
When she poured out her anguish and grief to the Lord, she was free. She felt light. She knew her God would take care of her. She trusted in Him and God did not fail her. She was blessed with a baby boy.
Her joy knew no bounds and she sang a song to her Lord -
1 Samuel 2
‘“My heart rejoices in the Lord; in the Lord my horn is lifted high.
My mouth boasts over my enemies, for I delight in your deliverance.
“There is no one holy like the Lord; there is no one besides you;
there is no Rock like our God. “Do not keep talking so proudly
or let your mouth speak such arrogance, for the Lord is a God who knows,
and by him deeds are weighed. “The bows of the warriors are broken,
but those who stumbled are armed with strength. Those who were full hire themselves out for food, but those who were hungry are hungry no more.
She who was barren has borne seven children, but she who has had many sons pines away.
“The Lord brings death and makes alive; he brings down to the grave and raises up.
The Lord sends poverty and wealth; he humbles and he exalts.
He raises the poor from the dust and lifts the needy from the ash heap;
he seats them with princes and has them inherit a throne of honor.
“For the foundations of the earth are the Lord’s; on them he has set the world.
He will guard the feet of his faithful servants, but the wicked will be silenced in the place of darkness.
“It is not by strength that one prevails; those who oppose the Lord will be broken.
The Most High will thunder from heaven; the Lord will judge the ends of the earth.
“He will give strength to his king and exalt the horn of his anointed.”’
Testimony
Sandhya shares the testimony of her mother. Her mother was admitted in the hospital with health issues and slowly she started losing her memory. She became restless. She was in the ICU for about 3 days. They had to put a tube to give her food. She wouldn’t sleep and didn’t close her eyes for 3 whole nights.
Doctors said that it would create problems in her retina and that she would lose her eyesight.
Sandhya was deeply troubled and she didn’t know what to do. She immediately decided to sponsor a Sunday live program. The entire church prayed for her mother’s healing. The doctors sedated the mother and sent her in for MRI scanning and when she was brought out of the room she was completely normal. And in the following days she regained her memory. She was completely healed. Hallelujah!
