Do You Want To Enjoy Divine Health?

Many, even among believers, feel that they are meant to live poor. This series of teachings on the principles of prosperity focuses on what the Bible teaches about it. There will be a major change in our lives if we truly understand what is written about this, in the Scriptures. Jesus never made any rich man who came to Him into a poor man.
There was a rich young ruler that went to Jesus and asked to become a follower (Luke 18:18-30). Jesus asked him to sell his belongings, give it to the poor and then become a follower.
But Jesus didn’t say this to Nicodemus or Joseph of Arimathea or any other rich person that came to Him. This was because, for the young ruler, money was an idol and a god.
Matthew 6:24
No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.
This was a problem faced by this young man. Jesus was not saying that everyone should sell their possessions in order to follow Christ.
Right after this man, another man came to Jesus asking if he could bury his father first and then follow Jesus. Jesus did not mean that he should not bury a dead father. ‘Bury the dead’ was a phrase used to refer to waiting till someone dies and then starting something else. To this, Jesus said- “Let the dead bury their own dead, but you go and proclaim the kingdom of God.” Here, the man’s problem was that he gave first importance to his family and traditions more than God. There was a price to be paid to become a disciple.
Apostle John writes to Gaius that he may prosper in all areas.
3 John 2
Dear friend, I pray that you may enjoy good health and that all may go well with you, even as your soul is getting along well.
Physical prosperity (divine health) is very important. It is more important than material prosperity. If we have great wealth but no health, it is painful. We will not be able to enjoy life. For divine health, prayer alone is not the solution. We need to be disciplined in our life and take care of our health.
Job 1:8-10
Then the Lord said to Satan, “Have you considered my servant Job? There is no one on earth like him; he is blameless and upright, a man who fears God and shuns evil.” “Does Job fear God for nothing?” Satan replied. “Have you not put a hedge around him and his household and everything he has? You have blessed the work of his hands, so that his flocks and herds are spread throughout the land. But now stretch out your hand and strike everything he has, and he will surely curse you to your face.”
Satan challenged God in testing Job. God was sure that Job would always look to God regardless of the situation and thus God allowed the trials on Job.
Job responded saying-
“Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked I will depart. The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away; may the name of the Lord be praised.”
Job did not curse God or grumble or complain about it. This must be our attitude too.
Philippians 4:11-13
I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do all this through him who gives me strength.
We all use verse 13 in all areas of our life, but what it really talks about is money management and learning to be content in all situations through the strength that Christ gives us. This strength is what Paul talks about. This is the art of living; we must be adjustable and flexible whether we have or do not have much. We must live a debt free life; not spending more than we have.
2 Kings 5:1
Now Naaman was commander of the army of the king of Aram. He was a great man in the sight of his master and highly regarded, because through him the Lord had given victory to Aram. He was a valiant soldier, but he had leprosy.
Naaman had power, fame, wealth etc, but his leprosy destroyed everything. Physical prosperity (good health) is very important than money, fame, power etc.
