Are You Mentally Strong?
Proverbs 4:7
‘Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.’
Many people struggle in making decisions about their future. At times they make wrong decisions too. We need wisdom to make the right decision. Wisdom is important to make decisions about your job, family, marriage etc.
Good health is necessary to have a long life. Similarly a healthy mind is also important.
In our day to day lives we are constantly pressured by many things - our children's future, loans, job etc.
God wants us to live a free and beautiful life. Most of us are inside a cocoon like a caterpillar. It takes time for the caterpillar to break and come out of the cocoon as a beautiful butterfly. Similarly we need to be patient through the process.
Salvation is not for the body or mind but for the spirit.
2 Corinthians 5:17
‘Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.’
The mind still needs to be worked on.
Romans 12:2
‘And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.’
The mind needs rebuilding. Physical health is more important than material blessings and in turn mental health is more important than physical health.
Mental prosperity is not limited to your knowledge and education. It is common during our blessing festivals and crusades where people who are not well educated and who do not know much about the Bible come and receive healings and miracles where as those with knowledge do not receive as much. They go back the same way they came. It is because the educated people have an analytical way of thinking.
For instance, when a person who is studying to be a lawyer hears Christian messages, the lawyer in him wakes up and he starts to think in that perspective.
Educated people start analysing everything and they block the move of God. The uneducated have pure faith to receive from God.
When you come to the cross, it is not your head but your heart that matters.
1 Corinthians 1:19-20
‘For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent. Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?’
The verse above speaks about the wisdom of the world.
Take a moment to think - are you thinking with your worldly wisdom too?
In the book of Daniel we have read about Nebuchadnezzar. He declared that he was god and that everyone had to pray to him. This was the time when he lost his senses. For 7 years he ate grass like an ox.
And after 7 years, he looked up to heaven and his senses was restored -
Daniel 4:34
‘And at the end of the days I Nebuchadnezzar lifted up mine eyes unto heaven, and mine understanding returned unto me, and I blessed the most High, and I praised and honoured him that liveth for ever, whose dominion is an everlasting dominion, and his kingdom is from generation to generation:’
Solomon, the wisest man on Earth spoke about the problem of having worldly wisdom in Ecclesiastes.
Ecclesiastes 1:18
‘For in much wisdom is much grief: and he that increaseth knowledge increaseth sorrow.’
Our priority should be - Mental health > Physical health > Material blessings.
How do we have a strong and healthy mind?
When we came to know the Lord, the mind of Christ was automatically downloaded into us. All we need to do is transform into that mind of Christ with the help of the Holy Spirit.
1 Corinthians 2:16
‘For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? but we have the mind of Christ.’
