The Most Important Prosperity
We saw that mental health is more important than material and physical prosperity; which is made possible by the renewal of the mind as you cooperate with the Holy Spirit and feed on the Word.
In Romans 1, we read about the depravity of mankind where human hearts were darkened. Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like a mortal human being and birds and animals and reptiles. They worshipped and served created things rather than the Creator. Many turned to homosexuality and lesbianism. Sexual perversion is the result of a depraved mind.
Today, we are moving into the inner core of prosperity which is spiritual prosperity – the most important one!
Matthew 6:28-33
“And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
What shall we eat? What shall we drink? What shall we wear? – in today’s terms this implies a man's career/profession/livelihood. People are more worried about how they will live and upgrade their standard of living. However, the Bible says that the pagans and not God’s children, run after all these things because the Father knows His children’s needs.
Anyway you are seeking something; but then let the spiritual things be sought first – the Kingdom of God and His righteousness. The Kingdom of God is the kingdom where God is the King and righteousness means right living/ uprightness in your relationships, both with God (vertical relationship) and with men (horizontal relationship).
Once you have spiritual prosperity (the innermost), mental, material and physical blessings (outer) will follow. Goodness and mercy will follow you all the days of your life, provided God is your Shepherd. Prioritise spiritual life first. Right spiritual life is an indication of physical health. As we go from outside to inside, it becomes more important.
Exodus 15:26
He said, "If you listen carefully to the LORD your God and do what is right in his eyes, if you pay attention to his commands and keep all his decrees, I will not bring on you any of the diseases I brought on the Egyptians, for I am the LORD, who heals you.”
Right spiritual life is an indicator of physical health!!
