The Principle Of Investment

As a child of God, you can be a super blessing to others.
Joseph was sold as a slave by his own family, but later God brought him to a place where he became a blessing to many nations.
In the past week we saw different types of people- eaters and sowers. Eaters take whatever they can and spend all the money they have. The sowers invest whatever they have- their money, their talents, knowledge, etc according to biblical principles. They learn how to live within their means.
We also saw that money is not everything. God uses money as a means to do many things. We can use and master money, but money should never use or master us. We are managers and stewards of God’s money.
In Ecclesiastes 11: 1-12, King Solomon has shared some wise practices. We must remember that we live in a fallen world. The world is unpredictable, even the weather is! Financial analysts make predictions about the economy, but they tend to fail because everything is unpredictable.
Therefore we should be careful in everything.
Verse 1 Cast your bread upon the waters, For you will find it after many days.
This refers to the sales (maritime commerce) that happen across seas. This also means to spread out your financial resources into multiple areas. Thirdly, it can also mean to give to the poor.
1 Kings 10:22-23
The king had a fleet of trading ships at sea along with the ships of Hiram. Once every three years it returned, carrying gold, silver and ivory, and apes and baboons. King Solomon was greater in riches and wisdom than all the other kings of the earth.
King Solomon was the wisest and he had a hand in all the fields. He had multiple merchant ships that came every year bringing all kinds of things. It’s God’s principle that we must increase the money that God gives us. We see this in the following parable.
Matthew 25:24-27
He also who had received the one talent came forward, saying, ‘Master, I knew you to be a hard man, reaping where you did not sow, and gathering where you scattered no seed, so I was afraid, and I went and hid your talent in the ground. Here, you have what is yours.’ But his master answered him, ‘You wicked and slothful servant! You knew that I reap where I have not sown and gather where I scattered no seed? Then you ought to have invested my money with the bankers, and at my coming I should have received what was my own with interest.
It is biblical advice to invest your resources wisely and increase it. This is true of every talent that God gives us. Laziness is wickedness in the eyes of God. Any small thing you have, God wants to see you invest and multiply it.
This is the principle of investment!
