The Principle Of Work

God’s Word is the manual given to us to live a godly life.
Today, we continue to study the principles discussed in Ecclesiastes Chapter 11.
Ecclesiastes 11:6
Sow your seed in the morning, and at evening let your hands not be idle, for you do not know which will succeed, whether this or that, or whether both will do equally well.
The author is telling us to always work, not just in the morning but also in the evening.
In the New Testament, Jesus says that His Father too is always working.
John 5:17
Jesus said to them, “My Father is always at his work to this very day, and I too am working.”
Jesus is never idle, He is always working.
When God created man, God’s presence was with Adam. Adam wore a glory covering. God then gave Adam work to do as a manager in the Garden of Eden even before he got married to Eve. It’s God’s divine order that every man works even before marriage. This principle of work existed before Adam sinned.
Every man should work whether it is in the secular field or in ministry. Worship/ Prayer is not a substitute for work. On the other hand, work cannot be substituted for worship. There must be a balance. Some are looking for a formula that works without much effort.
Proverbs 28:19
Those who work their land will have abundant food, but those who chase fantasies will have their fill of poverty.
God has created us to do work.
2 Thessalonians 3:10-12
For even when we were with you, we gave you this rule: “The one who is unwilling to work shall not eat.” We hear that some among you are idle and disruptive. They are not busy; they are busybodies. Such people we command and urge in the Lord Jesus Christ to settle down and earn the food they eat.
There are some who sit all day listening to God TV or attend prayer without working to earn an income. But the Bible doesn’t allow people not to work. Only those who cannot work due to any physical dysfunction are permitted not to work. There will be disorder when husbands do not work and make their wives work instead.
Unemployment is a curse. May God open ways for jobs and create an enthusiasm in people to work and not be idle.
