God Is Changing Your Status
When we come to Jesus, our status changes. Irrespective of the names that society puts on a person, his identity changes when he is in Christ. His past is gone and his new identity is in Christ.
One such person was the Apostle Paul. Earlier known to the people as Saul, a scholar of the tribe of Benjamin, a religious zealot who killed people in the name of religion. He stood as a witness for the murder of Steven, the first martyr of the early Church. A man engulfed by the religious spirit, when he encountered Christ, Saul was transformed to Paul. People no longer call him Saul but apostle Paul. This is the effect of letting God into our lives. Your status will change. Everything will change.
2 Corinthians 5:17
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!
God will take away your past, your old name, your old character and give you a new name. He changes our status and our character.
1 Corinthians 2:2
For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and him crucified.
This should be our goal, or focus. We need not look to or run to other things. We don't need to be wise fools trading the wisdom of the Word of God for worldly knowledge. The wise of the world gain worldly knowledge but reject the wisdom of the Word of God which alone can save them. When such people die, the knowledge they gained will die with them.
Solomon talks about wisdom, saying how it is more valuable than rubies.
Proverbs 3:15-17
She is more precious than rubies; nothing you desire can compare with her.
John 8:31-32
To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. 32 Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
Jesus said to his disciples if you continue in the word you will be free. If you want freedom, stand in the Word.
We must study the Word and meditate on it. This strengthens our inner man. Knowing Jesus and His Word is not enough, we must stand firm in the faith and be grounded in God’s Word.
