The Ever Present Helper
Our God is always there for us, carrying us. He never takes a leave of absence.
Psalm 121:4 “indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.”
This is our God.
Jeremiah 33:3 “Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.”
Everyone knows that we do not always get immediate responses to all our prayers. But there are a few prayers that God answers immediately. One of these is the prayer of repentance and salvation. When you repent and accept Jesus as your saviour, He answers immediately!
Some of our prayers are not for our good, God says no to these prayers. In the garden of Gethsemane, Jesus prayed to take away the suffering that was coming His way. God did not answer this prayer. Jesus Himself corrected the prayer saying, “Your will be done, not mine” and that is why we are all here today!
A lot of people, when in distress, pray that God takes them away. Imagine if God answered all these prayers. Sometimes His answer is that we need to wait and grow.
But we always have a hotline to call unto God. A child always cries to out to its parents when they need something. This is because they know the parents are around and has experienced their help. In the same way, we all have the privilege, freedom, and license to call unto God at any time!
Matthew 28:20 “And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
He is with us always! If you call unto God, He will answer!
God is with us personally and for the congregation- for the church.
Hebrews 13:6 So, we say with confidence, “The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?”
People that threaten us should not make us afraid, because God is our helper. It is this revelation that gives us strength. The most that a human can do to us is to end our life. But even death is gain for us because we will be with the Lord!
Psalm 46:1,2 “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore, we will not fear, though the earth give way, and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea”
This is who our God is! In whatever situation we face, God is our strength and our ever-present helper.
Many people think that when tough situations come our way- like sickness or financial difficulty- that God is away from us. But the Bible tells us that God is with us in the trouble! We ask God why He has forsaken us and why certain things happened to us. But the Bible tells us the opposite, He is always with us and so we don’t have to be afraid.
