Double For Your Trouble
Remaining hopeful in troubled times is something that everyone struggles with as humans but it is not impossible.
King Herod had beheaded James and now Peter was in prison. It could have been a time of despair in the life of Peter. Rather, we see Peter sleeping peacefully between two soldiers even in this dire situation. This is the work of the Holy Spirit! The Holy Spirit provided him with a great peace and hope within him. This led to a supernatural intervention from God.
Peter was delivered from that tough situation by an angel of God who brought him out without waking others. Another great example is Paul and Silas in a similar situation.
We are all good at grumbling and complaining. But take a look at what Paul and Silas did - they had a praise party!
WORSHIP IS A WEAPON!
When going through dark and tough times in life, we need to make use of our weapon - our praise. And you will see the result. In such situations we need to worship God and we will see deliverance. We will be released from all the chains holding us down in our lives. We will be set free from unimaginably tough situations.
In Acts 27:23-26 we see the ship in a strong cyclone. And we see how at that crucial time of brokenness, an angel of God came to Paul and told him not to be afraid. God simply wants us to surrender it all unto him.
23 Last night an angel of the God to whom I belong and whom I serve stood beside me 24 and said, ‘Do not be afraid, Paul. You must stand trial before Caesar; and God has graciously given you the lives of all who sail with you.’ 25 So keep up your courage, men, for I have faith in God that it will happen just as he told me. 26 Nevertheless, we must run aground on some island.” - Acts 27:23-26
We see how Paul is encouraging the people to keep up the courage. In other words, to put their faith and trust in God. When you do so, His promises will unfold in your life.
Even in the darkest hours, no matter the crisis, HAVE HOPE AND FAITH IN GOD!
So, what happens when you go through a crisis in life?
You will get double for your trouble!
When we go through all these hardships, God rewards and gives double blessings.
Back in the days, there were two people who would get double;
Exodus 22:4 says; If the stolen animal is found alive in their possession—whether ox or donkey or sheep—they must pay back double.
According to this Scriptural portion, if someone stole from you, you will get double of what you lost! Take the life of Job, he received double of everything he lost. Sometimes we go through big losses and difficulties caused by others, but there is nothing for us to worry about for our God will give back double!
We have been given the authority and entitlement to inherit what we have lost in our lives. So don't be downtrodden in life, God is planning to give you double!
In order for this to happen we need to lift up our hopes! God does not desert His children or His words so rest your hope in God and be at peace through troubled times.
Job 19:25-26 says; 25 I know that my redeemer lives, and that in the end he will stand on the earth. 26 And after my skin has been destroyed, yet in my flesh I will see God;
Our only job is to have faith and hope in our one true God for He is ever-faithful!
