The Royal Saving Power
This week we have been learning some important lessons from Luke 1 about the songs of Mary and Zechariah. More recently, we discussed the horn of salvation in detail. Two things that was previously discussed were;
The horn is a sign of power.
Deuteronomy 33:17 says In majesty he is like a firstborn bull; his horns are the horns of a wild ox. With them he will gore the nations, even those at the ends of the earth. Such are the ten thousands of Ephraim; such are the thousands of Manasseh.”
It is always a sign of power. The crowds of God have power! There is power in weakness. There is power in those who wait for the Lord and those who pray. A prayerless person is a powerless person.
A prayerful person is a powerful person!
Numbers 23:22 says God brought them out of Egypt; they have the strength of a wild ox.
Israel was a weak nation at that time. It was not like the Israel we now know of. But at that time, God gave them the strength which helped them to escape slavery. A nation that stands with God is a strong nation because their strength is in the Lord!
If God is with you, you are powerful!
1 Kings 22:11 says Now Zedekiah son of Kenaanah had made iron horns and he declared, “This is what the Lord says: ‘With these you will gore the Arameans until they are destroyed.’”
Zedekiah was a man of God, a prophet, and he made horns and declared this prophetically. This shows that if there is the horn of salvation, it has the anointing power to tear enemies apart. This type of anointing is a giant-slayer and an enemy-slayer.
Daniel 7:8 says “While I was thinking about the horns, there before me was another horn, a little one, which came up among them; and three of the first horns were uprooted before it. This horn had eyes like the eyes of a human being and a mouth that spoke boastfully.
This is showing the power of kings and the power of politics.
Psalm 18:2 says The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield[a] and the horn[b] of my salvation, my stronghold.
Everyone has names (family names, ancestral names, etc) and titles (doctor, teacher, lawyer, etc) in the world. God is the one who holds the most number of titles. He has around 250 titles. Some of His titles include the following;
THE LORD IS -
The horn of salvation is the saving and protecting power of God!
Exodus 27:2 says Make a horn at each of the four corners, so that the horns and the altar are of one piece, and overlay the altar with bronze.
Luke 1:71 says salvation from our enemies and from the hand of all who hate us—
The horn of salvation denotes royal saving power belonging to the Messiah.
