You Are A Builder
Yesterday we learnt that in order to live an unshakeable life, Christ has to be our foundation and cornerstone.
1 Peter 2:6 says For in Scripture it says: “See, I lay a stone in Zion, a chosen and precious cornerstone, and the one who trusts in him will never be put to shame.”
1 Corinthians 3:10-11 says (10) By the grace God has given me, I laid a foundation as a wise builder, and someone else is building on it. But each one should build with care. (11) For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ.
We need to build with care! The foundation was not laid by Paul, but was laid by our Father, God Almighty ages ago. And we are all building on top of that foundation.
1 Corinthians 3:12-13 says (12) If anyone builds on this foundation using gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay or straw, (13) their work will be shown for what it is, because the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test the quality of each person’s work.
We can build on top of the foundation just like how a building is constructed. But a day will come when the quality of the construction on top of the foundation is tested. The quality of each life will be tested! And it is written in the Scripture that the life we build on the foundation will be tested by fire. We will see then if the life built will withstand the test of fire.
1 Corinthians 3:14-15 says (14) If what has been built survives, the builder will receive a reward. (15) If it is burned up, the builder will suffer loss but yet will be saved—even though only as one escaping through the flames.
The only thing that will withstand the fire without fail is the foundation, and it is the only way the builder will survive the test. This foundation is the most precious and has already withstood all trials and tests, and has been bought with the precious blood of Jesus Christ.
1 Corinthians 3:16-17 says (16) Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in your midst? (17) If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy that person; for God’s temple is sacred, and you together are that temple.
1 Corinthians 6:19 says Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own;
