Wise Building
Wisdom is more precious than rubies. We have been learning from 1 Corinthians 3:10-17 this past week. We learnt that before we started building, God has set a firm foundation in each and every one of us. This foundation in our lives is Christ Jesus and we should build upon that.
Proverbs 9:1 says Wisdom has built her house; she has set up its seven pillars.
Over here, we see that wisdom personified as a woman.
Proverbs 24:3-4 says (3) By wisdom a house is built, and through understanding it is established; (4) through knowledge its rooms are filled with rare and beautiful treasures.
We can connect this Scripture portion with reference to building a family life, or even the work we put into our lives, the construction or building of our own lives and temples.
From these portions we can take away 3 main words;
We all have the knowledge. For instance, you might be a financial expert but living in poverty. You are able to give others sound financial advice but not able to apply them in your own personal life. The main reason behind this is because you have the knowledge but you do not have the wisdom. And this happens because you do not have the understanding. You need to be able to comprehend how to translate what you see in theory into a practical format for your life to be fruitful and successful.
Knowledge. Understanding. Wisdom.
We need all three in our lives to live life properly. The entire book of Proverbs repeats the same 3 words over and over again, emphasising its importance in life. If only you have wisdom, you will be able to lead a good future with a strong foundation to build upon.
Luke 6:46-49 says (46) “Why do you call me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say? (47) As for everyone who comes to me and hears my words and puts them into practice, I will show you what they are like. (48) They are like a man building a house, who dug down deep and laid the foundation on rock. When a flood came, the torrent struck that house but could not shake it, because it was well built. (49) But the one who hears my words and does not put them into practice is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation. The moment the torrent struck that house, it collapsed and its destruction was complete.”
Wise building refers to obeying the Word of God! And foolish building means disobeying the Word. The Word is easily accessible now. These days you can get it for free and always carry it around in your phones!
Hebrews 6:1 says Therefore let us move beyond the elementary teachings about Christ and be taken forward to maturity, not laying again the foundation of repentance from acts that lead to death,[a] and of faith in God,
Building upon the strong foundation like the house built on the rock, you will have an unshakeable life if you build according to the Word of God!

- Wisdom: refers to practical knowledge, it is practical.
- Understanding: is a bridge between knowledge and wisdom, this means comprehension.
- Knowledge: refers to information about something, it is theoretical.
