God Speaks Through The Holy Spirit

This week our focus is on the different ways in which God speaks to man. We covered;

1. The most basic foundation is that God speaks to man through his own conscience. This is the mechanism God is using to communicate with man whether he is saved or unsaved, from any religious background, culture, etc. This has been the way since the fall of man. This is the same mechanism that helps us to choose between right and wrong. This is not a perfect way because what seems right to one might seem like it is wrong to another. This is because of cultural influence and the difference in formation of each of our belief systems, religious background, value systems, etc. When we refer to a person without a conscience, we refer to someone who is unscrupulous and not ashamed to do wrong deeds. 
2. The most common & effective way that God speaks to man is through His Word. This happens when we personally sit down to read the Bible. God continues to talk to us through His Word. There are 2 parts to the Bible, Old and New Testament. 
3. God speaks to us directly in many ways. Through our thoughts, through an audible voice, through visions and dreams

Today we are looking at the 4th way - God speaks through His Holy Spirit. 

1 Corinthians 2:10-11 says (10) these are the things God has revealed to us by his Spirit. The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God. (11) For who knows a person’s thoughts except their own spirit within them? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God.

The Spirit searches all things. The greatest search engine is not Google, rather it is the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is the eyes of the Lord like a CCTV camera. 

Hebrews 4:13 says Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account.

The eyes of the Holy Spirit are universal scanners. Nothing can be hidden from His eyes and because of his scanning, we have protection no matter the time of day, or where we are. The Holy Spirit within each of us has the ability to talk and communicate with us. 

The Holy Spirit is a great communicator! He handles the heavens' communicative systems. He knows God’s inner thoughts. 

Acts 13:2 says While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, “Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.”

The Holy Spirit is a communicator, a talker, and He can communicate with his servants. The final say comes from the Holy Spirit, for He gives us the instructions, strategies, goals, etc. in our lives. 

2 Peter 1:21 says For prophecy never had its origin in the human will, but prophets, though human, spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.

They spoke and prophesied because they received inspiration from the main source - the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit can speak to us in many ways: 

1. Through prophecies
2. Inner voice

The Holy Spirit should be the central and main foundation every time God speaks. The Holy Spirit is a resident communicator within us. He acts as an inner witness to reveal and confirm God's deep things to us. We will have a lot of feelings inside of us, but not all are from the Holy Spirit. We need to be able to discern the voice of the Holy Spirit within us and in our lives. A solid knowing, sensing, or conviction, this is what God is saying is how the Holy Spirit communicates with us. It is a tug in your heart and some people call it a ‘gut feeling’. 

We should be able to recognise the Holy Spirit! We need to be sensitive and tuned to the voice of the Holy Spirit.
