My Father Will Always Be There For Me
1 Corinthians 1:9 says, ‘God is faithful, who has called you into fellowship with his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.’
God the Father has called us into fellowship with his son, Jesus Christ. We come into this fellowship and experience this through the Holy Spirit. Here’s a verse that indicates this experience in the scriptures.
2 Corinthians 13:14 says, ‘May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.’
In 1 John we see that our fellowship is with the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit.
1 John 14:23 says, ‘Jesus replied, “Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them.’
John 14:18 says, ‘I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you’
In John 16 and 17, Jesus says that when he leaves this world, he will give us an Advocate to be with us at all times. In all these verses, it’s reiterated several times how God had prepared a fellowship for us. It’s easy to say that God is faithful, but when you are in a difficult circumstance in your life, it is not easy to believe that.
Many years ago in Armenia, there was a couple called Samuel and Daniel. Their son was a small kid named Armanda. As Armanda left for school his father told him that ‘Daddy will always be there for you’. Many hours later, a disastrous earthquake struck. In the news, they heard that the entire school building was destroyed. When the parents came to the school site, they saw only debris. Samuel decided to pick at the debris to find his son underneath the shambles. He asked several people to help him, but they said it was a waste of time. As hours passed by the onlookers left, several parents left and a few others laid down flowers at the site. But Samuel did not leave. Even at midnight he continued his search. As he continued on, he heard a child cry “Help, help”. He quickly moved the rubble around him and found his child. His father held his hand out for his child. But the child asked his Father to save his friends first. Apart from him, there were 13 other children under rubble. When he was taken out from the debris he said “I knew that you would come to save me, because you promised me that you will always be there”. Because of that Fathers perseverance 14 children were saved that day.
Recently there was a story about a few children who were rescued from the Amazon. When I read 1 Corinthians 1:9, I was reminded of this story in Armenia. This is exactly what our Father in heaven has promised us - he will be there for us, always. Believe that your Father in Heaven will be there with you always. Because the child, Armanda believed in the promise that his Father gave him, he was not worried. ‘God is faithful, who has called you into fellowship with his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.’
Deuteronomy 7:9 says, ‘Know therefore that the Lord your God is God; he is the faithful God, keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love him and keep his commandments.’
He is the faithful God, keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations. This covenant of love is similar to a love between a man and his wife. This does not mean that at the thousandth generation his love is cut off, but it means that his love is forever and remains with all the generations that love him and keep his commandments. A good example of this is the life of Abraham who is called to be the Father of nations. His generations even after more than 4000 years are blessed and covered under the covenant of love.
We live in a covenant that is even better than the one between God and Abraham. Our covenant with God is a covenant sealed in his blood and his love.
Psalms 37:28 says, ‘For the Lord loves the just and will not forsake his faithful ones.’
God will not let go of those who are faithful to him. You will be protected forever. God care will always be on you. Our God is the Rock of Ages and God of Generations. His word will not betray any of his people, which is why God says he is the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. He takes care of each person in every generation. The children of the righteous will be strengthened in this world, they will never live in squalor. Know that love covers a multitude of sins and we are under a covering of love from God. God's love always comes searching for us, it finds us, covers us and protects us. Sometimes we see how our earthly parents treat us, assume that that is how our Father in heaven would also treat us. But know that your earthly parents are not perfect. But your God in heaven is perfect and his perfect and complete love expels any fear.
