Shalom
Peace is a settler on the sons of peace. It is a spiritual transfer from the Prince of peace to the sons of peace, who then becomes a carrier of peace and thereby, a peacemaker.
Luke 10:5,6 When you enter a house, first say, ‘Peace to this house.’ If someone who promotes peace is there, your peace will rest on them; if not, it will return to you.
Matthew 5:9 Blessed are the peacemakers, For they shall be called sons of God.
Isaiah 26:3 You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.
A person who is steadfast in the Lord will enjoy perfect peace all the days of his life.
Peace generally means a time when there is no disturbance; where there is calmness and tranquility. However, the Hebrew word, Shalom has a rich and multifaceted meaning:
In the Jewish culture, shalom is often used as a greeting; wishing others peace, wholeness, well-being, harmony, safety, etc. Shalom shows good health, good relationships between people, prosperity in life, success, and victory. It covers almost all aspects of a prosperous life.
The Greek word for Shalom is ‘eirene’, which also has a broad meaning. Biblically speaking, peace or shalom is not just mental calmness, but it covers all the blessings and prosperity connected to human life. Shalom is not the absence of war, but the presence of wholeness. Jesus takes the broken pieces of our life, repairs our life and gives us wholeness.Jesus is the peacemaker and we too are peacemakers; and because we are following Him, He has given us shalom!
