God Will Perfect What He Started In You
We have been going through the book of Philippians in the past couple of sessions. We have already read and studied Philippians 1:1-5. So, today we will be looking at verses from Philippians 1:6.
Philippians 1:6 Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.
God will finish what He has started. If He begins it, He will finish it. We can be sure of this because it is in His name. He is the Alpha and the Omega; the beginning and the end. He is the first and the last.
Now the Spirit of a finisher is from God. Lot of times we hear of big building projects or constructions having to cease or change their plans due to the difficulty in finishing what they have started. God isn’t someone like that. He sees the end from the beginning. We can’t see it but He can. God has a Spirit of a finisher and if we walk close to Him, we will also foster the same spirit.
One of the biggest projects that God is doing is the salvation of mankind. Where there is a fall, there will be redemption. In the book of Genesis, we read of man’s fall to sin but God is still in the process of changing lives and bringing back people’s hearts. God made man and woman and entrusted them to oversee and rule over everything that He had made but due to man’s falling away that was not fully accomplished. But God was not done there. The Bible tells us, in the book of Revelation, of how we, the Body of Christ, will rule with Him when the time comes.
God is the Master Builder. He is in the process of building our lives. At times, it may feel like there is no progress and everything is going slowly but that doesn’t mean that God is not at work. He is always in the process of building your life according to His blueprint.
Philippians 1:7 It is right for me to feel this way about all of you, since I have you in my heart and, whether I am in chains or defending and confirming the gospel, all of you share in God’s grace with me.
Paul wrote a lot of letters to different groups of people. In the letter to the people of Philippi, we see how it is a letter where Paul expresses his joy about the church. It is because he feels a connection with them as they share his joy or sorrow in whatever he is doing. Ever since his first journey to Philippi, the people he ministered to, have been dedicated to the teachings and in putting into action all that they had been taught.
Though Paul visited and established many other churches, it is the church at Philippi that was led to support him financially on all his missions. Paul had a partnership with the church at Philippi.
We are all partners with Christ in the work that He is doing here in this world. God will bring to completion the work that He started in each of our lives just as we read of how He will bring to completion the work that He is doing in this world.
